Electrical upgrade ?

Want to get a feel of what you guys think. I am putting 4 US Amps Merlin MD3D's (2000 watts rms each) and 1 75x4 Hypnotic, 1 50x4 Hypnotic, and 1 75X2 Hypnotic With this configuration I should be running 10,550 watts.

My upgrades are big 3 with 4 gauge, ho alt(220amp) 2 runs of 0 gauge back and 2 runs of 0 gauge for the ground as well. I have 2 Optima yellow tops under the hood, 3 kinetic 2400 in the back with 3 kinetic 600, and a 2 farad massive cylinder type cap on the 3 hypnotic high amps. If I can avoid multiple alternators I would like to. I bought 6 of these merlin amps so upgrading is highly possible. I will listen to it full tilt ocassionally, right now I listen to 4 15's with 4800 going to them full tilt for long periods of time. Please give me you opinions, more batts etc.

i love seeing people spend all this money on big amps and skimp so mightly on the electrical system //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif lmao at the big 3 in 4 gauge.

i would definately get a bigger or dual alternator. i'd even do multiple runs of 1/0 gauge of the big 3. i'd try to match how much wire is going to your amps. what i mean by that is if you have dual runs of 1/0 gauge going to the amp or dual battery, have atleast dual runs of 1/0 gauge for the big 3. i'd even consider multiple runs of 2/0, 3/0, or even 4/0 wire. also adding battery after battery doesn't help a whole lot when you don't have what it takes to charge them. you can also loose the caps since a dual battery will pretty much do the same job.

i'm still loling over a 220 amp alt with 4 gauge big 3 //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

You are going to be drawing alot of current. Just ballparking it I figure you are going to be close to 800amps of current draw with that setup at least. Even if you plan on running all those batteries, unless you plan on carring a battery charger with you every where you go, That alternator isnt going to last long at all.

Well I have a 220 HO alt, what I am trying to get across is will it do it alone. Also I have found room to do 3 run of 0 gauge back. Put doing the big 3 with 4 gauge, what is the problem the truck already has 2 gauge stock and I am adding 4 gauge to it. Or should I just completely replace it the stock wire and go all 0 gauge.

Also has anyone mixed the kinetic 600 with the 2400s, otherwise I also have 4 batcap 2000, that maybe could do the trick they are alot smaller then the 2400s.

My other choice is to get a bracket for dual alts, then I can run the stocker with the HO for a total of 380 amps, but the bracket is another 350 bucks, is it worth it.

By using I=P/V (which assumes 100% efficiency), your setup has the ability to pull over 700a of current. I'd look into getting 2 300a alts if you plan on play this setup loud and daily. Do atleast 1 run of power and 1 run of ground per amp. Ditch the batcap. Use as much 1/0 as possible.
