electrical support for AB VFL 200.1 @ .5 ohm?

you sturrin at me brah?
i'm looking to run my vfl at .5 ohm daily. it would actually be more like .6, the coils on my BL's read 2.2 (which i was most disappointed over, why happened to their old 1=.7 and 2=1.4 coils?)

right now i have a 34 series yellow top under the hood and a 31 series in the rear, a 240 amp iraggi alt, and 1/0 gauge big 3. what would i need to do to run it like that daily? pair of kinetik 2400's, or maybe a 3rd yellow top?

how hard are you on it? i generally bump hard for 5-10 minutes at a time, a couple times a day.

the last thing i want is the thing to go up in smoke on me again, a couple days after getting it back from repair. before it was at .7, but i dont think thats what killed it, as it burned up after being turned up for 5 seconds after having sat all night. i think a stray strand of power wire touched a ground although i didnt think to look before i unhooked it.

New or old VFL?
Either way, I would not do it. The old ones can be real real touchy, and I don't think the new ones like to be run that low.
its the one you sold me //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif

can anyone tell me how good the protection circuits are on these amps? if i wire it this low, is it going to let me know if it's not happy, or just blow up on me? the last time i'm pretty sure it was me doing a hasty install and having a strand or two of wire hanging out, thats been taken care of.

by the way, i got some video of my setup today, waiting for my buddy to send me the file (his camera) and i'll post up some flex action.

bah, guess i'm looking for new 15's or an amp that does 3kw+ at 2 ohms //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

honestly i think my d1 q 15's were louder in the same box than these are at 2.2. not really any point in wiring to .5 for burping, i dont compete and have a low tuned daily box anyway.

hmmm.....

well granted i have no personal experience with the amp. i will say though off 220amp alty and 1 d34 yellow top up front and plenty of 1/0 (6 runs from alty to bat and 1pos/1neg run to the back for now until i get my g31 for the trunk) to a mojo 4kw and im able to maintain 12v at full tilt all day off a single battery, and those things are current hogs. i think if you beef the hell out of the wireing between the alty and front bat and you have decent wireing between the front and back battery, voltage dips wont be the issue.

the issue will be will it take that load thermally.... i'd say depending on where u have you amp mounted, remove the back cover and mount a lil 12v fan somewhere to blow air across the circuit board. if you cant get a fan to blow air there, get a fan to blow air across the top of it. you'll be suprised how much a lil moving air froma midget fan helps cool down hot amp //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

well its fine as 2 ohms, i dont get any voltage drop, but i'm willing to bet i will at .5 ohm. what load are you putting on the memphis?
