Yes you'll likely still need more batt. The alt isn't instantaneous power like a battery is. It had a bit of lag. Slew rate. Very slight but Enough for the voltage to jump around a bit. Once again, that kinetic is good for 1800 watts. And since it's reaching the end of its life, probably a good idea to get another.
