I searched the forums on it and didnt find not much of nething of what Im needing to know.......

For 1100 watts would the Big 3 and a red top be fine? Would there still be dimming issues?

Can someone give me a range of when upgrading on electrical is needed? like 500-big 3,, 1000- big 3 battery,, 1600 battery(s) big 3, HO alt or something like it just to give me an idea

BIg 3 and red top are definite for my truck...(95 sdime) 105 amp alt only like 6 months old and barely drove (no license) and the amp Im getting will put out 1600 at 1 ohm but im only doing 1100 at 2 and I was just checking incase I get the chance to push the 1600......I have a goood spot to run another battery if needed even thoI hjave a single cab //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Im usin about 1500 w right now, and i have severe dimming, so I bought a battery and im gettin a crapload of wire, that should do the trick, sounds good for u 2!

dimming is dependant on alot of things. from the design of the voltage regulator to how you have things wired. just so you know optima doesnt recomend red tops in car audio use.......under their warranty it may be void if used for such.

big 3 and optima battery could work well, depending on what your stock alt output is.

100amp stock alt (on safe side) should handle ~600watt rms amp.

(but still do big 3 and upgrade battery)

Lol I hear alot of different things,,from what ppl have told me they say to get the red top because its better in starting and for the engine,,,could I do a red top under hood and yellow top somewhere else and run the audio off the yellow top...would I need an insulator or whatever?

in my opinion you dont need multiple batteries unless you do car shows and leave the engine off alot while your playing your stereo. and either a yellow or red top will do fine. theres a lil price diff and the yellow is a deep cycle. if you dont do car shows and just want the extra battery, i would get a battery isolator b/c is harder on an alt to charge multiple batteries at once esp a stock alt.

just telling you by optimas warranty you hook an amp up to a red top its supost to void your warranty reguardless if its your only battery or not. so people will say it's easy to get around that but reason they wont warranty it is because when used in such a way they probably have a higher failure rate......

I understand what your saying,,so now Im not sure which to run lol......When I no my truck is going to be sitting for more than 2 days then power cable to amp is coming undone ne ways.....lol,, Im not sure which to pick now....

I could pull 800~1000 watts off all stock electronics fine, no big 3, with just slight dimming issues and nothing else.

At least do the big 3 regardless of how much power your amp is pumping out. If you're still experiencing issues after that, upgrade your HO. If that still doesn't give you the performance you desire, than get a battery(s). At least that's how i'd ramp things up in order.

There are too many variables for anyone to give you a certain answer for your question. As audiolife mentioned things from the type of voltage regulator to the model amp to the music that you listen to can all have an effect on the voltage dips that cause headlight flicker. Two car with identical systems might have very different dimming issues. Do the Big 3. Install the system and see how it reacts to your normal driving an listening habits. You might find that there are no problems at all right there.
