Ok so dont laugh at me but ive been running my 2500d with my tahoes stock electrical system for a few months and it was working fine but now it seems like the weak electrical system cant keep up with the amount of power anymore. Its gotten to the point where if im listining to music at about 3/4 volume the entire stereo shuts off then comes back on and it even seems like my subs arent as loud as they used to be. Also, the headlight dimming is alot more noticable and the voltage drops are crazy. My question is what should i go about doing to solve this problem? Im guessing i might need a higher output alternator and the big 3.

This should help solve my problems right? I dont know too much about electrical system upgrades but im trying to learn so thanks for any input in advance!

how low of a load are you running on the amp?
huh? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/eyebrow.gif.fe2c18d8720fe8c7eaed347b21ea05a5.gif

what size is the stock alt? btw, the larger the alt, the more often it has to be "rebuilt" things don't last forever ya know, but it also goes for alts that are being "over worked" think about it, my stock alt puts out 130 amps at 3k-5k rpm, at idle, MAYBE 80 amps, consider the fuse size you have on your amp, thats pretty close to what it might run max or close to it, now add in all the other electrical components that run in a vehicle like the engine itself, air conditioner, blower fan when the heater is on, headlights, dash lights, stereo, it all comes into play, be suprised how much all of it adds up. best advice, upgrade to an alt that'll suit your needs, and if need be, upgrade the pully so it produces its max at idle or close to it....

its wired at 1 ohm right now
well that doesn't mean anything......could be wired at 1 ohm, but the gain less than a 1/4 way up........put it on a bench is the only true way to find out how many amps its drawing, but you didn't answer my question //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/furious.gif.fc81ca146dbff91fede3ed290dbc4f4c.gif
