Question.....

I had a RE SX 15" on a 1500D with stock alternator wiring on a 2001 cavalier with stock alternator

I just decided to totally upgrade everything.

RE XXX 15" on D2500 DEI on upgraded alternator wiring - Upgraded alt with 160 amp / optima redtop

Box = 5 Cube @ 30ishHz

Am I going to blow my mind out from the upgrade? and was my prior install suffering due to the electrical power. (I already had dimming lights/ and alternator weak *** sound)

I wouldn't go with the optima there internal resistance aint that spiffy and there only like 800 amps. if you want to get rid of your dimming lights and not have to worry about voltage drop. get the 160amp alt and get at least a 100amp battery a big one and shop aroud for ones with a low internal res. what that does is lets the charge and discharge faster, perfect for big systems. HO alternators has some good batteries and the price aint bad, check e'm out.

FYI

Most competitors use redtops for the primary battery because it handles the system load better than most other batteries.

If 9 out of 10 people use them, and the 10th says the internal resistance is too high.. who are you going to let influence you?

lol u use a hamster wheel i got flinstone style and use my feet, i was wondering the same thing, i'm replacing my stock alt next week and i already have done the big 3, and have a redtop am i goin to hear a diffrence, i've been told yes cuz i will not see voltage drops

yeah you will, the more stable power you feed the amp the better it can in turn feed your speakers.
