I going to run a 15" btl on a bxi-2608d. I chose the amp because of price and it will do 2k rms I want to run. I have a dodge charger with a stock 160 amp alt. The bttery is in the rear, what is a good batt setup? I'm going to do the big three with one gauge. The only alt for my car is a 300amp but its $850 shipped so its out of the question. Can this be done on the stock alt?

Very marginal. 2kw at 12 volts is 167 amps. If we calculate it at 14 volts it's about 143 amps. You have a good sized stock alt, but your car draws a ton of current on it's own before you add a stereo.

There are pictorials on here and other forums of people doing the big 3 and adding extra batts to the same car. Find them and look them over carefully. With 1 or 2 extra batts, good wiring and reasonble control of the volume knob you should do okay; as long as you remember your amp is big enough to kill your whole electrical system if you slam it too hard or too long. Never bump with the engine off.

If you plan to run it full tilt for very long your going to have to upgrade the alt and add more batts.

First upgrade you will need is a better battery. You can fit a group 31 back there in the stock location. Make sure you get a good AGM Deep Cycle battery like the following:

Kinetik HC2400

PM D3100

Deka 9a31

I know they do under rated power thats why I want to go with the 2608D and not the 2008d. The 2608d is rated at 2600 rms at 10hm so I figure it will do 2000rms at least at 10hm...

Which size Yellows? They are not all the same. If they are Group 31 Yellows, I would go for it. They are not the best but for that price you should jump on them.

they are optima yellow tops, I used to think they were the best till I got on here and saw Kinetiks, dekas, and batcaps....

OK, there are like 6 different sizes of Yellows. It makes a big difference which ones they are. If they are not the Group 31 size, you should pass. You need to find a Group 31 battery. Your stock battery is a little bigger than a Group 31. You can't (shouldn't) go smaller.

Personaly the bxi-2608d or Hifonics line is all underpowered and sound like shit...I was gonna get a bxi 1006 for my 15 fi bl but I grabbed a sundown sae 1200...I dought that amp will push 2000rms nicely*....I'm 105 alt kinetik 2400hc back** i'm sure you will be fine on a 160 alt, just charge the batterys every few days with a charger

You should be fine with that alt,,Just put a kinetik 2400hc used in the back and a 1400 used in the front*** will be about 350 to 400$..problem solved

DO the big 3 with 1/0 wire on ur elect system

*The amp is underrated.. not by 600+ watts.. Also its Doubt.. still haven't learned to spell..

Optima Yellow Top

That is my order of preference as well. That is not to say those are the only brands I would consider, but it is a short list to start with.
