Q) What have we learned from this thread? A) If you mention ED then someone will bash them on this forum..
I own some ED gear and use it in my daily driver. ED has some great products and will continue to make great products. Other companies have had similar problems in the past but the difference is that ED is a fairly new company compaired to other well known companies like JL, PG, RF.. What does that mean? The majority of the problems they had wqere worked out prior to the new age of "Internet bashing" Most of you were shitting diapers when those companies were having problems that are now worked out. But now that you are sitting on a desk somewhere with a computer you can do searches like "Elemental Designs Problems"
EVERY company has problems but eventualy either they fold or they improve. It appears from the consumers in recent times that ED is on the "Improving" list.
Now before you say I am riding Ben's nuts understand this. I may never buy another product from ED because they will not Ship Via US postal (some Products). Why is this such a big deal? Because it rules out all the soldiers and civilians working for Uncle Sam overseas. (I am one of them)
Topic 2 I run a pair of the flat cones and love them, does that mean I am a fan boy? NO. I like a product that is produced by a company.
Also I have read over and over, READ THE FACTS. Someone saying that "I almost got screwed" is not a fact, it is an opinion. Facts are very rare when you all start bashing on ED.. I had a friend once that knew a friend.... Before you bash get hard facts. Yes, I have heard that They had some bad subs in the past (That was a fact) but because the outcome of a replacement/ repair was not favorable to you does not mean you got screwed. You may have abused the product and as a 3rd party I cannot see it as a fact because I have only heard one side as evidence.
Generic basket... That would mean that it is readily available to use. Show me a sub with the same basket.. They may have looked at other baskets for ideas but so do all other companies. If there was a pat on one a key portion then they could use the idea to improve their design as long as they are not using the same design as the original (can be small changes as long as the key pat. points are not used)
So if you have facts about shady buisness practices post it up. If it is just heresay STFU already...
Hey look, another know-it-all who is behind the curve. lol
I especially love the part where you trey to convince us plenty of other companies are guilty of out and out lying to us, attempting to steal patented technology from competitors and claim as their own, etc etc. No, you owning eD products does not make you a fanboi, your attitude that heck they all do it anyway does make you one.
Lets examine your reasoning, its a new company under the new scrutiny of "internet bashing". In order for this theory to hold true, all other new car audio companies under the scrutiny of the internet must have fallen prey to the same fate. Oh wait, where's the alegations of RE needing to try to steal JL Audio technology? Where's the alegations that SecondSkin has lied about their products in order to deceive their customers into buying it? The fact is, your theory only seems to hold true when used to explain eD. This theory also discounts the FACT that the company in question is owned by a liar and a crook. Not all new companies are, hence not all will have the same ethics (or lack there of).
The only consumers putting eD on their 'improving list' are the ones ignoring the JL Audio scandal, the most recent problems with eDead, the Tanfband scandal, etc. eD isn't even improving at hiding their shady business practices. But obviously some people will chose not to see it, no matter how obvious it is.
Facts are very rare when we start bashing on eD? Ive listed scandals that have been well documented... they are FACTS. You not knowing these facts does not make them any less real. And to be frank, you not knowing these facts tells me you are not very current on the topic at hand.
I find it laughable someone sticking up for eD is throwing around the word fact. Ben and eD avoid facts like the plague. Facts like what their original eDead was actually made of, or how much it weighed. Facts like where Ben got his original cooling idea for this latest speaker. Facts like all those people who didnt get refunds on broken flat cones (oh yes, im coming to that)? You mean those sorts of facts? You want to talk about facts, yet you dont seem to address any of them. And trust me, if you try to deny any of the scandals Ive mentioned as fact, you will be laughed out of here. Again, these are all well known, well documented FACTS about the company and its policies. A simple search on this very board, if you truely want to know, will reveal all the info you desire. Or, you can continue to deny what you do not know, and expect others to spoon feed you to teach you otherwise. The choice is yours.
I also like this part... "because the outcome of a replacement/ repair was not favorable to you does not mean you got screwed". Yes, eD sent out a bunch of speakers that failed on a massive scale (what was it, 80% failure rate?), all with the same failure... and even eD changed the design afterward.... but you are so right, it just boils down to a few pissed off teenagers didn't get their way so their are pissed. Spoiled brats, something like that? How dare they expect to get a speaker that performs as advertised, without destroying itself. How dare they, upon realizing this was a problem inherant to the speaker, feel they deserved compensation. Something like that? Come on man, clearly you dont know the first fact about the flat cone debacle, yet here you are passing judgement on those who do. You need to gain some perspective.
Your lecture on how patent infringement can be danced around was nice too, really enlightening. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif Heck yes, all ben was doing was 'looking' at JL's design... I mean its not like they published pictures with the JL design on their frame, on their speaker... attempting to pass the design off as their own. Oops wait, they did. But yeah, Im sure lots of other companies do the same thing all the time. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif Again, you know not that which you presume to speak about.
In the end, you are just several paragraphs of talking out your *** while demanding everyone else prove something to YOU. lol If you dont like being ignorant on this subject, go educate yourself. We bare no responsibility for educating you on the subject. And once you HAVE educated yourself, then come back and see what you have to say. Until then, I suggest YOU stfu about it.
