eD EU-700 has funky terminals

I just finished checking fit on a new pair of eD EU-700 midbass woofers and noticed that the pair of speaker terminals stick WAAAY out, almost the outer diameter of the mounting plate.

In a box, you can shift the sub in (maybe), but in a lot of door pods, the mounting hole is tubular for a length and the terminals sit out too far to go in. It takes a pair of angle-pliers to twist the terminals down enough for clearance but then the coil feeds are tensioned.

Probably not the best design in the entire world. Still looking forward to hearing them jam though.

is this the driver??

That sure does look like it, but that one has the terminals "down", compared to the way they actually are, from production. Also, those voice coil feeds in the picture are a LOT longer than they are "in real life", so there's a lot more room for modification.

Yea, after I finish my nachos I'll try to get a couple pic's up...

How you get it from the factory, dust and all

How it looks after bending down the terminals to fit

Take a close look at the tension on the voice coil leads (nice n' loose stock)

And, after bending down the terminals to fit, the vc leads are tight (even after bending up the terminal tabs to give them some additional slack - compare this to previous shot for example).

Once again: (bonerfied) stock

actually what i did with my box was put one set of terminals in first like diagonally and then the 2nd one should slip rite in.
I figured that would work, which is why I mentioned that in a box, you could probably shift the woofer in... but in a lot of door mounts (like mine), the inner wall of the mounting pod can be inches deep, making it impossible to put the speaker in. This mod was my only solution.

Flakko, how do you like them so far??

i feel bad for those tinsel leads because that is a high xmax driver. they wont last that way....poor little sub
Yup. I won't run them that way... pic's for illustration only. I'll probably end up either shifting the solder point or replacing the tabs completely with longer ones. There's no way they'd last with that kind of tension.

for being in a .15 cubed sealed (i forgot to count in woofer displacement n00b of me //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif ) it is fomention the sq is awesome.r now my favorite woofer. the displacement, and output is awesome. not to mention the sq is amazing //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

cant you cut the door panels up?

Kinda' hard to describe the "pod" that the door speakers mount in. I can't cut them without getting into a pretty serious "return to stock" problem.

Here's a pic (different speaker) -- note: on the inside of that black abs plastic "pod", there is an inner-surface that is smooth and follows the mounting circle diameter down to the molded surface of the door:
