i just bought a 93 300zx equipped wit the Bose speakers and i want a head unit in my car. I am looking at the Eclipse 8051 head unit and the Pioneer 7400mp. Which of these 2 do you reccomend? Then since i have Bose I am going to replace the speakers with either Eclipse 89640's or the Pioneer Rev series 6 1/2's. Which system do oyu reccomend overall. And also do the Eclipse head units play CD-R and CD-RW's effectively? PLEASE HELP its driving me insane, also any other sugestions are helpful.

for the original price of 450 which i did get it for 200 at xmas time im just glad i didnt

pay full price my major prob was the radio certain stations didnt come in as well as

my old stock unit, and mine didnt play cdrs or cdrws which for the price you would have thought it would have ,cd wise its seemed fine the only plus with the elcipse is you should get 3rcas and a sub control for that youd have to go up to the 8400mp on the pioneer,as for the speakers cant help there dont think either have the power id be lookin for,sq listen to them and see what sounds the best

Pretty much comes down to personal taste...both Pioneer and Eclipse make very nice decks. Listen to the Eclipse speakers hooked up to the Eclipse deck, same goes for the Pioneer stuff....then put the Eclpse deck on the Pioneer speakers and the Pioneer deck on the Eclipse speakers....whichever one sounds better to you is the one you should get, but if it was me, I would be amping the speakers anyway and would be looking for ease of use and overall asthetics, also preamp voltage.

Sound quality wise, take Eclipse. Features wise, take Pioneer. I have used pioneer, kenwood and alpine before going to Eclipse, and my last eclipse was the cd8051(sold it and am now suffering with an entry level clarion until my new eclipse comes in). The cd8051 is an excellent sounding deck. It plays cdrs, but it is not listed as being able to play cdrws(with the price of cdrs, who cares?). It MIGHT play cdrws, but I never tried it. It has NO internal amplifier which may or may not be an issue for you. It was virtually bomb proof when it came to skipping(i call skipping maybe 3-4 times in 16 months as virtually bomb proof..and I had no problems with the deck). How much is the is the cd8051? Their new decks are out, and the prices are VERY nice. You asked which will sound better, take Eclipse. Good luck with whatever you buy. You can see the 2003 eclipse decks on their website http://www.eclipse-web.com

the 5423 is $289

5433 is $349

8433 is $419

8053 is $549 just to give you a frame of reference on the pricing.

wow, not impressed. shit, did you even pass 5th grade english? the 8051 is a great deck. their new 8053 is possibly one of the best decks i have seen and heard in a while.
