***Eclipse deck owners***

Yeap, I only listen to regular cd's, and the pause button works great. So does everything else. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

**** this sux. well i posted another thread about nice SQ decks with the stuff i want (including a pause button), and im waiting to see what every1 suggests. pioneer doesnt really offer anything i want and alpine i dont want of course. but im trying to get some opionions on kenwood and clarion (kinda pricy though). but the way its looking now, i may just be buying a deck without pause (your deck)
Clarion would be my choice, but I have never owned one. Had a Kenwood once...lower end before mp3's....of course this is before I found Ecilpse //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/yumyum.gif.0556df42231b304b9c995aefd13928a8.gif :yumyum: //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/yumyum.gif.0556df42231b304b9c995aefd13928a8.gif

I still have it and it's yours if you want it //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

I have one other question for Eclipse HU owners, specifically those with an 8455. I am wondering how exactly the digital input works. I managed to find a manual, however it does not detail the digital input, nor show any pictures of the back. I am specifically wondering what type of digital connecter it has, optical or coax? And if it is optical what type of optical connector, such as toslink or mini-toslink?

nah thats ok. i already got a lower end kenwood mp3 deck laying around

this whole pause button thing is REALLY bugging me. im a delivery driver, and i cant go rolling up to houses with my system blaring, so i always pause it when i get on the street. and i hate mute cause then i miss the song and the next song too. ya know?

The digital input works like any other aux. Press aux and then press button 1 for analog and four for digital. The connection is coaxial not optical. Optical would have its advantages. Since it is light and fibers, you do not have to worry about ground loops or EM. However, it is brittle and expensive. I am not possitive, but I believe it also deteriorates over long stretches. The quality of optical cables is very important as well. The cheap wal-mart cable is a hit and miss. I went through three for my minidisk prior to purchasing a 40 dollar monster cable that has lasted nearly four years.

ok, so it was basically between the 8445 and the 7889 for me. i love everything bout the 8445 EXCEPT the whole pause buttong thing. and i kinda like the alpine, but am skeptical cause its old and has 4V preouts and 1-bit DAC IIRC (dont quote me on that). so anyways, after class today i head down to court in willowgrove, pa to file for collection from a lawsuit i had with Best Buy (dont ask!). on the way up to my GFs i see an audio shop, Good Vibrations, that i wanted to stop at cause theyre the only place i know of that carries Eclipse decks. and i wanted to play with a 8445. so im playing with it, and i love it. and NO, it does not pause on ANY cds whatsoever. so im like WTF do i do? then the guy there is like, "why dont you just power it off?"

HOLY SHIT!!! how the f uck didnt i ever think of that? it works EXACTLY like pauseing (except the cd isnt spinning, lol). then i think back to all my past Pioneers where you gotta hold the source button for 3-5 seconds to power off. then to power on, it sometimes takes some time to load (depending on deck). well, i gave it a try on the 8445...it went on and off in a second. its perfect!

SO anyways, i was gonna get a used 1 from john here on the forums for $375, but the guy at good vibrations said hed get me this deck for $420 Brand New with full 3 year warranty. so sorry, john, i took that offer. And now my dilema is settled. Thanx for the help you guys!
