Alpine or Kenwood

I currently have a Alpine 9815... its junk alpines went downhill... cd doesn't like to come out etc. I was looking at getting the Kenwood X889 that a better HU or should I just stick with the 9815? I always been Alpine but they seem junky these days.

that 889 will smoke your current HU and will also sound just as good if not better than Alpines top of the line 2005 model.......

Alpine Died at the end of 2004..........

Get that Excelon,you will not be dissapointed

way to talk about stupid comments... i've heard both units and heard comparisons about both hus and in the majority of them 9815 or 9835 was a lot better

Last 2 alpines HU's I bought are junky CD's like to not come out and do weird stuff. Buttons are junky etc.

Looking for a new one X889 looks nice heard good reviews just seeing what everyone thinks.

9815 is like an 03 model so its old.

**** then I need to buy a new sirius tuner =( The Sirius tuner for kenwood the way to go or get like a Starmate Replay and run it through AUX on the X889 ? SQ would be the same correct?

Also the X889 have an active Xover?

i have the 9813 and it is an awesome h/u and the 9815 is a step above, so i would say go with the alpine, but i have never heard the kenwood, but i never had any probs with mine and i bought it for 150 off ebay

I've never heard of anyone having issues with the new Excelon HUs. That certainly can't be said of the latest Alpine offerings.

I'd put the sq of my x889 against any alpine HU (except F-1 status of course). From all the bad reports on Alpine build quality, I'd say the Excelon has the edge there too.

I have an excelon and an alpine in two different cars. I have the Alpine 9833 and excelon 879, so they are both 04 models. The excelon has a 24 bit da converter and it has seperate eq for front rear and sub wich the Alpine dont. These options kind of give the edge to the excelon imo

The only kenwood deck that I would personally own is the XXV-01D it looks like an awesome hu. I have the 9815 right now and HATE it im thinking about either going with the clarion drz9255, alpine 7998 or and eclipes 8455

Heres the thing,this year alpine has nothing better than Excelon NOTHING !

So if you need a good alpine HU you have to find some NOS 2004 and older HU's

I own a alpine 9833 great hu and a 789 excelon - I prefer the Excelon

it sounds just as good,cost 50% less and is way way easier to use
