Eclipse cd7000 is here...

Really Blue? The XXV-01D surprising very good: full bodied and muscial to my ears. It's too bad that it doesn't have an active setting.
I've had three Eclipse 8xxx decks and all are exceptional. I'm just moving on to something with different sonic signature.
Ya know ... mixing and matching components , wires , ect is just like playing with tone controls. That has been my good fortune and forte' over the years. Owning most all of the higher end equipment allows you to find out just what does , and what does not go well together. Eclipse decks at one time were warm and musical , but with a slight lacking in dynamics. After about '98 though they became VERY detailed and anylitycal , but lacked in musicality for my taste. They still do lack in warmth and musicality to me. I've made a habit of matching Eclipse decks with warmer sounding equipment and speakers in the last 6 years.

That brings up an interesting point ..... ALL equipment basically leans towards one camp or another ..... clean , snappy , fast , anylitycal, and dynamic .... OR smooth , relaxed , warm and musical. It's VERY , VERY rare to find a piece of equipment that does both really well , and combines all of the mentioned attributes. When you DO find that combo , you usuall pay MIGHTILY for it , for it is the ticket to perfection , or as close as reproduced sound can come to it.

At this time , the Clarion DRZ-9255 is about as close as one can come to that without going to separate DAC units. I describe it to people as warm , detailed , life like , and dynamic. Those usually do NOT go together as i've said before.

Lastly , when i owned my high end home audio store some years ago , I started talking with my 5 salesmen about trying to find out what EACH customer was listening for. We did this by taking them to one system first that was fast and dynamic , almost anylitycal ..... then by taking them to a smoother and more laid back system. It was easy to tell what they preferred really quickly , and our sales went up for the next 12 months by 44% !!!! Occasionally someone would want the best of both worlds , and bought the systems that would give them the best of both .... They usually spent over $30,000 at that point ... Cha-ching $$$

Here's a freebie for ya ..... Need to liven up your system some ? Buy some Rockford Fosgate Riot Matrix cables ( interconnects and speaker wires ) .... Need to subdue a lively system some ? Get some Stinger Pro Series speaker cable ( it's cheap ) and Dream Series Interconnects .....

Got a well balanced system and want a VERY neutral cable ? Buy Streetwires ZN6 interconnects and DAXX silver/copper hybrid speaker wires.

**** , that coffee REALLY kicked in !!! LOL

The Clarion sells peanuts. You have to realize the online/audiophile community is very small percentage of sales. Bling sells. So those that dont have money to splurge on JDM units and external processing have to find the better value/performance amongst the bling.
Also most of the new cars are incorporating more colors into their instrument panel/interior illumination...particularly European cars.
No doubt , the new Eclipse decks are really good , and they will sell well due to their good sound to lower price ratio ..... But there is obviously a distinction between the Eclipse line and TRULY high end products ... ( like Eclipse Japan models ) ..... I would never suggest an Eclipse HU to someone looking for the very best SQ units , but to anyone looking for all the bling along with great sound they are perfect , and i WILL be telling people to look hard at the Eclipse units .... And Don , I will tell them to call you first ..... Big sloppy kiss ... LOL:yumyum: //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/eyebrow.gif.fe2c18d8720fe8c7eaed347b21ea05a5.gif :eyebrow:

Blue, did you just get out of a race and still on andrenaline high? You've been very active with your posts in the last 8 hours!
No , but I did have to wait all day for UPS ..... So I've had time to post ***** a little ....

Isnt the animation of the navi display sick! hehe..
Man, one day.....one day.... I'll go crazy and import one of those Sound Monitors
Indeed it does. Simply amazing.

Maybe one day for me as well... long after I'm already living comfortably...

My one day will certainly be further off than yours though //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

Why does Japan always get the good stuff? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif
Yea....even the website is hella cool yo //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/yumyum.gif.0556df42231b304b9c995aefd13928a8.gif

**Edit: I can't belive I just said that**

The eclipse-japan website posts the price in yen next to the product. Just do a us conversion online. The Navi's are sweet but, but won't work with the US satelites. For sound quality, the Asian eclipse line won't sound any better. They use the exact same deck and processors. There high end line tends to be the US high end with E-ilan control. I still have a Eclipse, in dash mini disk tuner and changer. Purchased in 97 and styled after the 5053. The sound monitor is the way to go for high end. I am still kicking myself for not purchasing one a few years ago. My company discount (and yours 6spdcoupe //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif ) knocks off a pretty good chunck. But a few years ago the yen was down by nearly 15 percent compared to today. The sound monitor was about 500.

Eclipse will keep with making a quality cd HU, but most of the drive is in Car Infotainment. Even in the OEM division (where I am) they are stressing it. DVD and navigation units like the 7000 will be the priority for the next five years.
