Eclipse cd7000 is here...

Look at that K-N-O-B! Is that one helluva volume attenuator or what!

So Don...aethestics aside, I'd like your honest opinion: does it sound any different that the 8455, 8454, 8053, and 8443 that preceded it?

The knob honestly isnt that bad, although the ease of use is much better than the previous models.

Switching sources is a bit easier now.

Floor noise issues seem to have been addressed a bit, but may be due to lower volatge preouts.

I still have to play around with it a bit.

i am starting to shy away from the 6600, i dont feel like waiting for whenever they are ready to release it, so i am in the market for a new deck. i will be going after the zapco deck later this year, but i was thinking about either the cd5000 or the 7000. after playing with it, is the 7000 worth the price?

That would depend. From a consumer standpoint if your using all of the features then IMO yes. Although its hard for me to view it from a consumer standpoint.
i wouldnt be using any of its processing features, as i have the zapco dc's. but overall SQ, is it cleaner than the previous models. noise and what not?

In that case I doubt youll notice any difference between the former models.

I use the DXE so not much use for features for me either, but for customers eyes they want to see it.

It would make no sense if it did- being behind the face not only is a cd slot but one one slot for the magicgate memory card. Who wants their fingers caught while trying to remove/insert the memory card;)
Oh ok, I see where we are getting each other confused. We are talking about 2 different things:p: . I was talking about when putting a disc in that the face automatically slides up and closes. You were talking about when ejecting a CD or manually opening the face. My Pioneer only automatically closes when insterting a disc. If it is opened manually or if a disc is ejected the face will stay open til manually closed.

Why oh why won't Eclipse put off their spage ace , cheap plastic looking construction and start building decks with high quality construction faceplates that don't break ? Their SQ is so good , they should start looking at SQ oriented decks that embrace form following function ..... Instead they shoot for the blinking lights , laser show , youth oriented crowd at the expense of pure SQ in mind...... Personally I'd pay Eclipse $500 more just to be able to buy a no-frills , kick you in the *** SQ deck that has simplicity and superb build quality.

Oh well ..... There's still Clarion , Nak , and Pioneer that builds competition level decks, I just wish Eclipse would join suit. JMO

PS : I've owned 4 of Eclipse's top of the line decks in the past 8 yrs , and 3 of them have had malfunctioning faceplate issues. This is where my question and opinions are based from.
