Eclipse 7200mkII tuning/setup

After my second Alpine HU failure in two years I purchased an Eclipse 7200mkII monday and installed it last night. Couple of questions.... I downloaded the e-iserv configuration for my car (2007 mustang gt), loaded it up and it sounds...well not so good. I have Morel Hybrid Ovation 6 front seps which were really smooth with the Alpine ida-x305/IMPRINT. The 305 sounded fairly good (with MPRINT module and 4V outs) but cannot touch this Eclipse in clarity. I knew that from the time I powered it on. The staging seems perfect with the e-iserv config but the highs are extremely bright and JL 12w6v2 sub very boomy, even with the FR sub boost cut all the way and the non-f (sub level) decreased on the Eclipse.

I haven't touched the gains yet on my Rockford Power 1000 5-channel amp. I had them set perfectly for the 4V pre-outs on the imprint but I'm guessing I should readjust everything starting with the gains on the amp correct? My gains are probably way too high for this HU right?

It was working as of this afternoon //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif. I usually run an 18db slope on my mid/low pass and 12 on the high.

if i remember right the output on ur deck now is 8v i know mine is and i have the 7100 and i even measured the output to make sure. you could use the eiserv as a starting point then i'd go by ear and make small changes.

Yes, the 7200mkII has 8V outs (advertised at least). I'm going to adjust the gains way down from what I had them set w/ the Alpine unit. From what I've heard I can lower them to nil and have 70-80%% volume with the 8V outputs. I had to increase them due to the weak outputs of the Alpine ida-x305 I was running. I'm no expert so correct me if I'm wrong guys.

My gains were about 50-60% on the sub and front channel. I cranked both of them all the way down...didn't have much time to test it last night but **** these are some STRONG outputs!! The sub needs a bit more level but the front stage is super with the gain all the way down lol.

I'll adjust the EQ best I can by ear and pick up the MEI100 microphone next week, see how that auto-tune works out. I wasn't happy with the e-iserv one at all.

Thanks. I'm not even sure this thing has a "loudness" setting lol. It has something called "harmonizer" and CSII (some kinda surround effect setting). Both are disabled.

I'm still figuring out the many, many things this HU can do. It's an awesome unit.

I believe the loud feature is adjusted though the main screen by pressing the rotary knob/button.

A great feature to use is the levels adjustment for each preout channel. That can be done through the time alignment screen.

I haven't even messed with the time alignment settings yet. It's going to take a good deal of "in-car time" to adjust everything accordingly. I'm hoping the MEI100 mic will give me a good baseline I can tweak. You can use the e-iserv website to set the time alignment and crossover settings. I didn't adjust the time alignment settings with the initial e-iserv download. I hate to mess with it until I know what I'm doing. It's definitely going to take some time with this thing to get it perfected. I'm just really excited about all it can do. The bluetooth works great as well. I'm surprised at how well it works with the internal mic...

One of the things that moved me towards this unit is the fact that my old BT module, the 300BT I used with the Alpine ida-x001 HU would not work with the new ida-x305 HU. I was really pissed off about it but planned to purchase the (parrot enhanced) 400BT module. That is, until the ida-x305's faceplate took a crap. It's shipped off to Alpine getting repaired then all the Alpine equipment will be sold.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

ya the deck does have a loudness feature i'd go ahead and disable that. i will let you know this is the first deck that i've seen that no matter what the volume was at the outupt voltage read 8 at my meter not sure how that exactly works.
