Ebay Problem

My friend sold an item on ebay and lost the USPS delivery confirmation slip.

Buyer states that item has not arrived and filed a paypal complaint (its been 2 weeks)

My friend stated in his auction that hes not responsible if buyer chooses not to pay insurance for item (which buyer didnt).

Is he screwed?

Yes. I sent out a package with a USPS delivery confirmation as a return and eBay sided with the seller and I never got my money back, plus I paid shipping to get that shit back to the seller which they resold a few days later. Seller ended up banking twice on the same item and I was out of money.

really depends on how ebay wants it.... they can go either way really...

I don't think it will matter. eBay is gonna see it as the seller never sending the item, trying to scam the buyer. I think insurance is only for damaged items, etc. Not sure, but that's my take on it from all the stories I've heard.

he stated in the auction that he's not responsible for lost or damaged packages if insurance is not purchased.

insurance covers lost packages as well

I make it known insurance is required on items with values over $50.

Been in this situation many times... including once as a seller on CA.com. Paypal will ALWAYS side with the buyer if there is no proof of tracking. The problem with sending items through USPS is that, more times than not, a delivery confirmation number and/or insurance slip WILL NOT work as "proof of shipment" for Paypal. I've been screwed over many times as a seller accepting Paypal because of this.

That sucks... I bet he'll find the confirmation slip in a couple of days. Thats the kinda luck I have.
