Ebay Ho alt civic ?

Hey guys , just want to know if someone have one of these ? right now my Oem alt is 70 amp .. so before trowing 1400rms into it im looking for a alt ... right now I have done :

0 gauge big 3

0 gauge front to back

what I see on ebay :

Honda CIVIC Alternator 1996 1997 1998 1999 High AMP Except SI Model High Output | eBay

and

1996 TO 1999 Honda CIVIC Alternator 1 6L Alternator 160AMPS High Output | eBay

they are pretty cheap .. just need to know if they are good ..thanks

Don't expect any better than your stock with those. HO alts are not cheap period, if you want real world amps it takes real money

If you have an alternator shop close they may be able to beef it up, key word maybe

They are cheap cause they are beefed up stock case alternators. I had one on my truck for 4 years and it did 210 amps.

You had an ebay alt that put out 210 amps? what did it do at idle? WHat brand was it?

Most eBay alts are just stock alts with smaller pulleys don't waste your money. I had one. Didn't do nothing near what they rated it at and your stock one can't be beefed up much more than stock. Not really worth the money

The stock alts on em2s 01-05 can be beefed up to about 120 amps for about 150-200 from my local alt shop, talked to a few guys that had them and they said they were great, but if im gonna spend that much id prolly go ahead and buy a proper ho alt.

Yes. I bought it about 4 years ago. I have the birth sheet somewhere. I'll have to find it.

Yeah, save your money. You'll get better bang for your buck installing an underdrive pulley on your existing alt. BAM- eBay "HO" alt.

Did you ever actually bench test it? My Tenney alt sheet said 304 but it sure as hell didn't do it

OP I am not absolutely certain, but I have that same generation civic and I have heard of people using the Honda Odyssey from (1999-2003, maybe?) which is 130 amps I think it requires slight modification but it's worth looking at because the Odyssey alts aren't expensive to begin with. Not even sure where I saw it at, but worth considering. Especially if you can get the alternator from a local shop and return it if it doesn't work out.
