I guess it would also be useful for ease of tuning. You would only need one box built to spec and then could test tuning to your hearts content without going through enclosures like toilet paper.

Actually another good point, you can change the tuning by adjusting the weight on the radiator right? Do you still have a port with a passive radiator setup?

No it still moves. Transducers suck lol
Well yeah but it only moves if it's installed, it has no way of moving on its own.

 
I believe (not entirely sure) that you use a sealed enclosure, with a second opening for the radiator, so that you can use the sealed enclosure volume while still getting the benefits of a ported enclosure.

EDIT:I know tc sounds pushes the vmp (their version of a passive radiator) with all of their woofers. With these benefits, I'm not sure why everyone doesn't use a passive radiator besides the added cost of actually buying one. I'm also not sure of the ratio of cone area of your driver compared to the radiator. I've seen a single 18 paired with 2 vmps on another forum awhile back.

That is exactly the point. They are extremely useful, but are gunna cost you a good penny more.
