E10a- SQ Review

I knew my old Ranger MTX Thunderform Enclosure would come in handy. The box is .6 cu ft sealed, and is a **** good fit in my Ranger. The only drarback is the 6 inch mounting depth limit...I decided to use this box for the SQ Review for the e10a.

My amp of choice is a borrowed JBL 600.1, a perfect match for this sub...(Thanks to Drew Hamlett for this amp)

When my e10a first go here, I have to admit, the thing was small, real small. Looking it over, it was a very beautiful sub, the only drawback was no wiring terminals, only wires that go to the VC already. Not a big deal though. The songs I selected were mostly at random, going through my surplus of CDs. The one song that I used that, well, everyone uses is "The Freshman" by The Verve Pipe.

Song 1- "Purple Rain" by Prince- Yeah, I know I gonna catch some crap for this one...but this song is great for testing the sq of a sub. If a sub is able to keep up with each and every note, it is a good indication of the ability of the sub. My Infinity 6x8s sound awesome with the sung and I did not think that anything would be able to make it sound much better. I was wrong. The e10a kept up with each and every note and added a depth that only a sub is able to do. Very impressive...

Song 2- "The Thunder Rolls" by Garth Brooks- This song starts out with a crack of thunder. If a sub is able to accuratly equal the exact sound of thunder with perfect clairity, then it is definitly impressive. For this song, I disconnected all speakers and let the sub do it's own thing. Playing thhe begining of the song about 5 times, I could not find a flaw with the output of the sub. It sounded excellent. Afterwards, I plugged the speakers back it, and played the rest of the song. It doing VERY well. Again, another check of approval.

Song 3- "Stan" by Eminem- As much as I don't like Eminem, this song is a great SQ/Hip Hop song that I use as a test. Tone changes in this song are great, along with the claps of thunder. The sub kept up the whole time again, except it this time, at a slower pace. Song after song, this sub was continuing to impress me.

Song 4- "Whatever" by Godsmack- This song is the penacle of fast paced bass. There are so many tone and note changes that I found this to be the perfect test some. In the begining it starts off with short guitar notes. The e10a hit each and every note with great accuracy. Towards the middle/end of the song the notes go crazy...so did the sub. The sub was crazy awesome. Very impressive. Every thing held up, just as a sub should. Once again, another star of approval...

Song 5- "The Freshman" by The Verve Pipe- This song, as many people describe, has a certain level that it should be played at. Most subs on this song usually emphasize too much low bass, and droown out the rest of the song. The e10a did not do this. Although the level was not as accurate as it could have been, I was still very impressed. Again, during this song, the sub shows what it is capable of even though the low notes were a bit more than needed...which leads me to believe that this is going to be one heck of an SPL woofer.

In conclusion, this sub is a great small enclosure woofer. The SQ is phenominal and only matched by the Shiva in it's price range. It would be great for anyone looking for a great sounding sub on occasions, and a sub that can get loud on other occasions.

Rating- 9/10

Good review Rangerman

I like the elemental designs subs for the features, price, and looks etc. and it helps to hear your review of them as well.

Have ya checked out the SP series? They are not even on pre-order yet but they look mean heh. Just take the K series and add a ton of power handling and xmax and presto SP series. I just hope they also make the SP's in twelves also soon.

Elemental Designs Rep.

Im lookin forward to the subs and also some reviews on em.

How long has Elemental designs been making subs for? I'm curious cuz im new to the online audio scene. I have heard others talk of previous subs before the K series. Also if there was previous models was there something similar to the SP series and how were they?

Thanks if some1 knows the info...
