DVC Sub wiring ques?

I was asked a ques. today by a friend.I have never needed to do this so i'm not sure.Me and a friend of mine got 1 Orion H2 15 DVC 4ohm sub each i have mine on all orion gear.He has a Zabco amp and his didn't sound near what mine did.Well he has 2 zabco amps that put out 1000 watts each the exact same models and wanted to hook up each amp to a voice coil so one amp on each VC.Will this work and is there a name for this wiring?I have not ever heard of this?

what are the specs on the amp because he might get more or just as much power running the one amp at 2ohms.

Thanks,he does have it at 2ohm and he wants to put both.I'll have to ask the rest tonight but, hes going to try it tonight and i'm trying to get some info before he blows it.I wish he would wait.Any help a.s.a.p. would be great!

what are the amps rated at lets say its 1000 watts at 2ohms. If he wires each coil at 4ohms on each amp and the amp is rated 500 watts at 4ohm it will be the same power if he runs one amp at 2 ohms or both at 4ohm on each coil. So he might not gain any power runnig two amps.

He will get more power and more headroom. Regardless of rating, no amp perfectly doubles power when you half the load. If it makes its 2 ohm rating and is rated to produce double the power at 2 compared to 4, it is underrated at 4 ohms.

Now whether or not the difference in power is going to be audible or not is a different story...

Well i held him back from the install and he wants to switch the amps i guess.What amp should i refer him to buy?I would tell him to buy the 2100 orion like i have but, even with that amp it's not enough power i think.I had 3 12's before that pounded more.Let me know and we can go from there.

find out what model number his amps are, and then we can help you. Otherwise, tell him to find something that puts out 2kw @2 ohms.

They are 2 Z600C2-SL and he had them on 2 12's each.Now He wants to run 1 on each VC at 2ohms.But. i kinda got him to looking for a new amp.1 doesn't touch the H2 15 and thats why he wanted to put 1 on each VC.

yeah, if he had a Dual-2 ohm sub, he would be alright. I'd say either send the sub back and get a dual-2 or sell the Zapcos and get a new amp.

I guess he's going to get a new amp i think like one of the u.s. amps would be good but, not sure?maybe a old USA2000X if anyones got a idea,let me know.I'm a orion guy and and orions old stuff using the hcca subs and a 2100 or beast and you were set.We both grabed a h2 each and we both are finding to push the motor on these guys can be hell.I'm okay but, even the stuff he has laying around just isn't working.What ever happened to the good old days with a cheater amp and 600watt sub and it pounded like hell!But i'm up to try new things and i think i'm going to go back to my old ways.Thanks.
