Down Firing Sub

I have a Kicker S12L7-4. The sub will be in a sealed 1.5 cu. ft. box behind the front passenger seat in a small 4 door car (Plymouth Acclaim). I used to have an extended cab Chevy full size truck with 2 12" Kicker Comps down firing to the floor in place of the back seat. I got virtually no distortion this way and it slammed hard so do you guys think I could do it again in a small car? I would say the car has a little less interior space than the truck did. Also, how much space needs to be between the sub's surface and the floor? IIRC, I had about 6" between the subs and the floor in that truck. Should I angle the box instead of having the sub fire straight down? Thanks.
