I got some MDF wood at Home Depot and got it cut there also.

But apparently someone Fugged up and did not measure correctly. Its off by 1-16 of an inch even the other side is off by the exact same amount

Is there anything I can do to close this off?

BTW I didnt glue the top on yet. it is just sitting on top for now...

I would make it, so half the gap is at each end of the piece of mdf, and just glue and screw it like normal, so the MDF flexes... its not THAT much of a gap...

but then, it depends which side of the box would be flexing...

how about, you get a straight edge, and cut 1\16 of an inch off the other two sides!!!

inset a piece of mdf as long as the side 3/4" on the top, so it sits flush against the side when u set the top down onto the box, make it about 3/4" wide, then wen u set the top down, screw it in from the sides, problem solved. i hope these directions make sense

Multiple applications of wood glue will seal it up as well. If you can get a dowel or two in there to give some solid structure to the gap, you can then squeeze a bit of wood glue in from one side, let it cure and do the same thing from the other side. The dowels will hold it together and the wood glue will seal the gap.
