Not trying to be funny, this is a serious issue.
as far as what does race have to do with this?

A White man calls a team a racial slur (even though the team has members of several different ethnicities) and he is on the front page of news and all over TV.

5 Black Men **** and kill a white couple. I hear about it on a CAR AUDIO FORUM.

Race has everything to do with it. And it shouldn't have anything to do with it.

Yea I guess I was still a little pissed about the thread and didnt read your response right. But I would consider radio and msnbc a form of media and thats where his programs were broadcast on, thats make him a part of the media. But seriously you cant just piss off the nation. You can piss off a few people or maybe a few groups and get away with it but not the whole nation.

Who said he pissed off the whole nation? You don't really believe that do you? If you do, then let me be the first to break it to you -- the whole nation was certainly not pissed.

I think most people took it for it was -- a poor attempt at humor. If you have ever listened to Imus you would know that he gives everyone hell -- even people that he most certainly likes. In fact, the members of his staff give him hell all the time about looking like he has one foot in the grave.

Is Imus funny? Yes, in small doses. It gets old pretty fast.

Is Imus a racist? Well most people are to some extent. However, I would think that he is much more accepting of others than your average Joe. The old cranky guy is just an act FYI.

Should he have been fired? Quite frankly, I have been surprised that he has gotten away with much of what he says for so long. His brand of humor probably does not belong in mainstream media and if you changed it so that it did fit the more vanilla standards it would not be the same. So, I really don't think he was in the right venue. However, I do not feel that he needs to be "punished" because I really don't think there was any animosity in the first place.

I don't think the story would be different or that anyone is debating whether it was the "worst in history" so blacks in this country should be pitied more or that the situation needs to be handled differently than what happened in Egypt. Its not about being the "#1 worst slave/injustice that happened".

Its about an injustice that happened and the situation that all Americans now find themselves in today. Its just too soon to expect everything to be a "perfect world" at this time. I honestly think in another 40 years things will be much better in regards to different people getting along and trusting each other and treating each other better. These things take time but eventually it will happen.

Imus says a racist comment, which is out of the norm for a white person to do in a public media like TV, Radio, etc.... Thus all of the Sharptons, Oprahs, and Jacksons of the world focus their attention on this matter because it's out of the norm.

When 5 black people rob a white couple, cut off the dude's wang then proceed to burn his body and hide it near the railroad tracks. Later they **** the wife for 3 days and kill her. This is all normal for the media so there really is no headline.

It's not the media biased against white people it's just that they have such low standards for black folks. It takes something like a 32 person shooting to get their attention.

You can even notice this due to the change in features of the pharaohs over time as they developed more African like features.

The Persians and Arabs built almost their entire empires on the back of black slaves. The Carthaginians utilized slaves from the West Coast for salt mining, timber, and rock mines.

All this happend over 1000's of years and I would bet my money that they were treated much worse than by any white sharecropper from Georgia would have done.

Affirmative Action really doesnt do shitttttttt.

There are no white guys in suits running around looking for minorities because of affirmative action. Its something that honestly gives people something to talk about, NOT JOBS!! I've gotten almost every job i've applied for and the reason why are because I have strong resume, worked pretty **** hard at everything i've done, and I think I do pretty good in interviews.

So I take it you are opposed to affirmative action because your complaints fall in line with one of the many arguments that have been made against that policy. Namely, that in the presence of affirmative action minorities and women will not be given credit for their accomplishments. People will wrongfully assume that the success of an individual that is a minority or a female was the result of affirmative action rather than merit.

I think they planned the car jacking.. but when i saw a pic of the 4-runner it had dark *** tint.. and it would have been nearly impossible to see inside the vehicle at night.

They went out with the intent to carjack someone, but they were after a car not a white couple to ****/kill. The ****/murder was just incidental.

Affirmative action is just a way for white people who are financially unsuccessful to make an excuse for why they didn't make it. Oh, I'd be a billionaire if they didn't give my job to a black guy. Really funny, as if you didn't get into a school or get that CEO position because they are filled with blacks. This is a rich mans world.

Point of this thread was that those ****** commited a hate crime and there was no coverage as if nobody cared.

I just hate how every time a black guy does something in this country, there is a thread on this forum about black people like "blacks are like this", "blacks are like that", "affirmative action", "good old slavery days", "taking all the good jobs". Lastly, white people treated blacks like animals for hundreds of years. Lower than animals even. Now after 30 - 40 years you expect every black person to forgive and forget and act like white America overnight practically? As if in the 1970's white America embraced black people the same as whites. Even today, there is a white part of town and a black part of town in most cities. Whites want to stay as far away as they can from the black part of town. You think blacks aren't aware of this way of thinking? And they should embrace and trust and forget everything while still being treated as a second class citizen in many ways?
