door trim material?

WHATS A SUBWOOFER!?!?!?
ya know the cardboardy, woody, fibrey stuff that door trims are often made out of?

will this stuff go soft if you wet it?

I need to reform it so there's a 4 inch round flat spot on the front doors to mount some mids.

I THINK it may flatten out if I screw a piece of MDF to the back, which I was going to do anyway, but, yeah...

this is the material I'm talking about:

ignore the mould, and rust at the bottom of the trim //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/eyebrow.gif.fe2c18d8720fe8c7eaed347b21ea05a5.gif

It will get soft when you wet it, because in essence, it really is just stiffened cardboard. That's why you see the mold there, because it got wet, and soaked all the way through. You may have to leave it soak for a little while to really get soft though. Just make sure when you are done forming it or whatever you are doing, you dry it quickly with a hairdryer or the alike so that it doesn't mold on ya.

Almost forgot, make sure you have something to hold it in place, because this stuff tends to really bend and do wierd shit when you dry it after being wet.
