Alright, so I know everyone hates door-to-door sales, but I have to generate some business somehow. This is for a landscaping company, and in this case snow removal. My question is this: what makes you the least angry, and most likely to use the company's services?

As an added - if anyone has techniques that have been effective for them, what are they?

i would do the radio thing.

 
if go to the house its the best u just put it on there mailbox /door its gona go in the garbage and if u do it over and over u will get some nasty phone calls. mayb just knock and let them know whats goin on etc etc. but please pick the right time and day.

 
i know around here with dont have door to door and if its something of the past some people might b hey let me at least see what he has to say. u will get the people that will say no and slam the door in your face . i do say after the 1st time u will b used to it.

 
I used to hate people coming to my door. I would say make a flyer explaining what you're offering and give the range of price and put it in the mailbox. The people that will be interested in your services will keep the flyer or call for more info. The ones that arent can toss it. If you showed up at my door while i was eating dinner of sleeping as i do different hours than many, i would be pissed and not use your company even if i needed it

 
Maybe do it like a good drug dealer. Wait for that snow to pile up, hit them up once with the plow for free and maybe they'll start paying for your services.

 
Honestly the people that "hate" when people come to their door are a-holes in my book. I work overnight and when people come to my door trying to sell something I usually just don't answer the door or if I do I just tell them I'm not interested. I understand they're just trying to make a living so I don't see any reason to be mad at them. Unless they keep knocking repeatedly and won't take no for an answer. But simply knocking once and asking if I'm interested is no big deal to me.
