Door speaker tweeter install question.

I had some speakers and an amp installed in my truck by a local shop. The 2 tweeters and 2 door speakers are all connected to the front 2 channels and the rear speakers are connected to the rear 2 channels.

As far as the front channels go there are only 4 wires (2 pos, 2 neg) connected to the actual amp. My question is, how is this normally accomplished? Do installers splice one door and one tweeter together somewhere (in the door or under the carpet, for example) and just run the pos/neg to the amp?

If not, how else could it be?

If so, is this the best way to do this?

I haven't taken my door panel off and actually looked yet but wanted to see the best way to do this because i am thinking of getting a component set and replacing what I have now.

You probably have a crossover hidden behind your door panel that splits the signal to the tweets & driver. Look up your set's model # to see what it looks like. Since you had them installed for you the installer just didn't bother showing it too you. It's like a small circuit board.

No inline crossover was installed. These are RF 6x9's and tweeters. I am thinking of getting a better component set that has an inline crossover.

Well then hopefully they wired them parallel @ 2ohms like you would 2 subs & ran the tweets off the 6x9's terminals, might wanna look at whether your amp is overheating them when you crank it. If they wired them in series you should probably re-wire them.

Yeah, I'm gonna pull off the door panel hopefully this weekend and look. So, if I ever get a true component set with crossovers, do you normally wire the door speakers and tweeter to the crossover and then just one pos and one neg comes out of that to the amp?

If so, can the crossover be mounted close to the amp (under my seat) rather than putting them in the doors?

I know, these are remedial questions but I'm trying to get a better understanding of everything.

Yeah you pretty much got it right on how crossovers are wired. I guess you could hide the x-overs under the seat, but you'd be running alot of speaker wire through to the doors. If your worried about them getting damp or something you can mount the to the metal inside the door itself that the door panel mounts too, a decent comp set should have screw mounts designed into the xover casing, so they arent just sitting in the bottom of the door.

Thanks. Not really worried about them getting wet. Just not sure how much i'll need to tweak things. And my door panel is old so things are starting to fall apart. I hate to remove it too much.
