door pods - version deuce

if you read what i wrote you would know im not done and that problem has already been addressed;)
I did read the whole thread, Including the first time you mentioned that the gap would close up with the glass and vinyl. And also the last part where you said you cut too much off //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif I was just offering my opinion my man //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

no problem. im just lettin you know its temporary. it will be fixed. i started rushing the drivers side door and messed up.
Patience my man patience . It's the most under used tool in some peoples tool box, yet it is the most important one //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

theyre awesome. really helps blend. rock/metal sounds awesome when they're blarin out cords. bad thing is i think i need more power now only 50w rms:(

no, i built the pods off the door. you can see on the first page where i mocked up the back board. those holes were drilled out after the pod was completed and it was bolted down from the inside of the pod. just 2 bolts but it isnt going anywhere. they are very strong pods.

if you get a chance take a pic of how you mounted it, im quite curious.

Im not sure whether i should cut out the whole square of the door as you did or just work around it. Ex cut holes into the pockets of the door for speaker magnets and FG around that. I would like to be able to get the door somewhat back to normal if i had to but i don't think thats a choice with this type of project

Dude....I have had my 03' dakota QC and been waiting to see some custom work done for the stereo....looks real good so far.....looking forward to the finished product!

look on first page with the mock up board. there are 2 screws holding the board in place. you can use theses screws or you can use bolts like i did. you will need at least 2" screws and make sure they are beefy enough to hold the weight of the pod.

not sure if i can find pics but the bolts are 3/8" dia. 2" long flat head on the head side and 8mm nut on the other. i ran the flat head portion in the rear and the nut was tightened inside the pod. i had to use visegrips to clamp onto the bolt so it wouldnt spin in place and i could tighten them down.

thanks. it was pretty difficult because i dont have the right tools. took me twice as long as it should've. i was contemplating using cups from the kitchen for the resin until i found some disposables buried in the pantry.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

did you ever find a better way to blend the doors into the pods?

I'ma be tackling this project soon now that i officially have the truck.

I just noticed you had some type of rubber around the cut on the door to make it look better?

just wondering which way i should go and what i shouldn't do. Now that i actually have the truck im kinda worried about chopping right into it =S.

lmk if you ever fixed it up and how. Thanks
