Door Glassing time! Which speakers?

I am plan on glassing my doors in the next month in order to achieve exactly what I am looking for. I currently run a Memphis Belle (4x75W@4 ohm, 4x115W2ohm, 2x230W@4 ohm bridged) on a pair of Mpyre mids bridged with ID tweets run off HU, and 2 Sundown e8's off of 600w (which play 20-50hz). I love the sound, but I need more vocals. I will be selling my mids and buying all new.

What I am thinking of doing is putting a dedicated woofer and midrange in each door. The problem is that I only have ~.5 cubes to work with before displacement, unless I really hack up the door. I know a lot of people run Selenium, but I have never heard them. I really like the LOOK of them, but in the end of things, that really doesn't matter, LOL.

I like my music VERY loud, nice midbass, clarity is a HUGE concern. Now with that being said, I listen 98% of the time to rap. There are some off days where I throw in some rock or even reggae.

I will be getting rid of the mpyres for the simple fact that I have used them and am looking at trying out something else!

The biggest factor in all of this is cost. If even possible, I would like to keep it under $250 for all 4 speakers. I already have all the glassing material.

I suggest hertz high energy speakers without the components. Set the crossovers with the HU and amp at the point that the passives would be set to and you might come out to ~250.

Keep in mind the costs of materials for the doors tho

I Listen to hip-hop as well.

Are you looking for just SPL? or SQL?

you have so many options.

1)-try amping your tweeters.

if not

2)-3way, buy a 3inch mid! add another amp to power your midbass, not sure if your headunit has a active xover setup? you can buy an external active xover/processor.

if not

3)-Look into Hertz shallow 8inch mids or rainbow shallow 8's.buy an amp for your tweeters.

if not

4)-mids to look into are Seas-Hertz-Rainbow-Morel-Peerless,etc....

you should gp listen to hip-hop played on SQ,SQL& SPL speaker to see if you like

I like SQL with Hip-Hop music.

One of my friends has a Sentra & she has mids in the doors & tweeters in the dash.

it sounds cool & it gets louds as well.

Im not sure a 3inch mid will be loud enough for him based off of this first post. I was thinking a 6.5" or 2 4" to get loud. That should be plenty.

I will be running everything active, just like it is now.

Not sure what you mean by "costs of materials for the doors". If you are talking resin, matting, etc, I have all of that.

If your definition of SQL is "Loud while maintaining superb sound quality", then yes, that is what I am after.

1) Amping my tweets will not give me the gain I am looking for in the vocal region.

2) A 3" will not suffice. I will also be running active.

3) No amping of the tweets. As far as the shallow mount goes, I can't find much information on the required air space.

4) Any specific model?

I have my doors fully deadened and yes, the speakers do sound "cool". Loud is subject to ones ears. I have a team mate who thinks my current setup is too loud, but I am in search of more.

I already have the 6.5" setup and I am pretty sure it will take more than one set to achieve what I am looking for.

I missed the last part about how you have all the material. But I still say hertz. I havent heard as many different speakers like a lot of other people on here have, but these sound GREAT, get plenty loud and have a low price. Maybe 2 sets of 6.5" high energy mids.

Are you unable to amp your tweeters? I just hope that down the road you don't change your mind about it.

I am able to amp my tweeters, just have never liked the sound of them amped. From back in the day to now, I have always liked them better off of HU power.

High Energy Hertz over something like Morel Tempo 6?

I don't know why your doing this, your mids are already loud as hell and its really clean, but now your just going overboard, i would want to see how you will be doing this for future reference if i ever want to make some door pods for myself, never done it before and could learn a few things or two, Good luck though!! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
