Don't want to enclose the sub

Is there a specific type of sub I should look for if I do not plan to enclose it? I thought I saw one that was specifically for nonenclosed applications but I have been doing so much research and looking I've lost the link.

Before you ask why, this is going in a 31' sunbridge cruiser and where I have planned for it is not conducive to enclosing although it will be enclosed within an approx. 2' wide by 1.5' by 1’ high deep fiberglass locker. Also, I am not looking to "bump" as it were, just a reasonable sub for low end. I am leaning toward a 10".

I am by no means an audiophile and probably wouldn't notice most of the sound impurities that an educated ear would so I do not need to be "too anal" here.

Thanks

You aren't planning to just drop the sub in the locker correct? there needs to be some sort of baffle with an amount of closed airspace behind it. If it is a very large amount of airspace, you want a sub suited for infinite baffle installs. If it is a small amount of airspace, a sub optimized for sealed will work fine

Thank you all, yes, infinite baffle is exactly what I am looking for. I googled it and learned all I need, I found this link very helpful: IB subwoofer FAQ page

And it will be installed on a vertical surface with sufficient separation as described in the link I provided. Now if I can find one in a marine version.

Thanks again, you folks are very helpful and giving of your time.

I quick google netted many hits for the Rockford Fosgate M110S4 10" Infinite Baffle Marine Grade Subwoofer

Also MTX seems to have a large selection of these in a marine model at reasonable prices; are these inferior? Again I'm looking for modest components, on a boat you're happy to just hear the music w/o being distorted over the engines.

Any comments about these?

i would go with AE IB, the fi ib3 might be good but i cant see the specs.

anyone know its .qts?

but the rockford might be good if u just want a little bump, not too worried about loudness, or sound quality
