ok, i am new to the whole sub woofer thing and need some help, because i am trying to shop for some stuff but dont know what any of this means. i want to get this sub http://www.millionbuy.com/rocp3sd212.html only if it is 2 ohms. but it says it is 2 ohms x 2. so is that like it having a 4 ohm impedance? i dont know wether to look at the 2 ohm or 4 ohm ratings on an amp.

and also i understand that if i did have a 4 ohm sub i could wire the positive to the other positive and same with negative to use the 2 ohm rating from an amp? i dont understand how that works. what would be the point in getting a 4 ohm sub to run it on 2 ohm load. thanks for baring with me

but i wouldnt be able to do the positive to positive and negative to negative thing on the sub to get 2 ohm? and i never see amps with a 1 ohm rating. are those alot more rare or what?

you take a dual voice coil sub or multiple dual voice coil subs and wire them to the load you want... same for multiple single vc subs...

subs can be wired to pretty much anything you want with some limits depending on #of voice coils and their original independence...

but how do i know wether or not a certain amp would put out enough to power the amp if it doesnt show the rating? and that is another question i have. is it better to have a mono amp for a sub? i was looking at the one for the sub. http://www.millionbuy.com/pakreact11100.html im trying to keep it kinda cheap and they have a deal on these amps where they give you a wiring kit with this brand amp. so i thought it might be a good deal if it could power the sub

i dont understand any of that at all
Dude. I'm not going to spoon feed you. Don't you learn anything at school? Read it until you DO understand it. It doesn't take a genius to figure this stuff out. But you can't expect to put together and install a decent audio setup without understanding a few relatively simple concepts.

edit: I know you didn't get through all that info in the three minutes between our posts. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

most amps have 2 connections for each voice coil so you can run a dual 2 ohm driver on a 2 ohm stable amp.

unless you get like a ghetto bucket of mosfet bolts from a portapotty.

i dont have an amp, im trying to find out what kind to get. how many ohms is best to run a sub on?
For the love of god, read the link I sent you.

The subwoofer doesn't care what it's resistance is. Its voice coils ARE the resistors that determine what impedance the amplifier sees.

Try to get a subwoofer that can be wired to one ohm paired with an amplifier that is stable down to one ohm. That way, you will be able to get the most power for your money.
