i have a male and female husky. the male is just a big dumb moron. great dog. the female, which is just an absolute friend and the smartest dog i've ever had has acquired a bad habit. she's always killed birds, squirrels, mice, etc., but recently she's killed 2 alley cats in the back yard. these cats would sit on top of my work shed and just tease both these dogs. i found 1 dead friday and i just got home from work and found the other dead. i think she got them both at night while hiding out in the shed. i'm getting conflicting stories about dogs getting blood thirsty after killing other meat eating animals. she seems fine. anyone ever have this problem with a dog?

First, remove any things that would keep more birds/cats/rabbits/squirrels around. Garbage, feed, stuff of that sort.

Second, get a big kennel to keep the dogs in while you are away.

Its in a dogs nature to be a hunter, nothing you can really do to curb the dogs behavior besides using a shock collar. But that would only work if you had your eye on the thing 24/7.

Seems normal to me.

I always have my dogs outside. My lab kills snakes all the time.

He gets the occasional opossum, rabbit or coon too.

If it comes into the yard, its fair-game. (wild animals)

I you have any background w/ animals, you be able to easily keep her under control around other dogs and such though.

actually killing things isn't the problem. it's our yard, trespassers of any species are fair game in that yard. should i watch her closer around my kids?
