I would put a smaller fuse in, the 250 will put no where near 80a worth of current draw through the wire.okay I have a fuse at the battery but its like 80A. Should I put a 30A fuse in it?
That is a genius idea.At the battery, just fuse for the wire, not the amp(s). So if you have 4 gauge, fuse at 120-150amps. 0 gauge, 250-300amps. Then if your amps don't have fusing, simply fuse for them before the amp.
That way, your wire is fused for max capacity at the battery, and you can just change the amp(s) fusing whenever needed. Most amps have on-board fuses, so it usually isn't an issue and you can just for for the wire capacity at the battery.
