Does this sound right to you?

I'm planning on getting 2 brahma 12's. The box I want to make will have the subs upfiring with the following dimensions: 32x9hx15 deep. The box will be made of 3/4 MDF. From all the stuff I've read this should work well. Am I right?

yeah, i've always heard that brahmas do pretty well in small sealed boxes.... Especially for sound quality..
So the SPL should be decent and SQ should be good? Would a slightly bigger box make a difference?

hmmmm... didn't know that. how is the smaller box spl? raised the tuning?

I assume you are talking about sealed, since the SPL Ported box is bigger than the SQ ported box.

But for sealed, the smaller box is for SPL because the smaller box will raise the Qtc, which means that there will be a peaky response in the higher bass and lower midbass frequencies (which is where a lot of people attribute "punchyness" to be), and that peaky response will allow the small sealed box to get louder than the larger sealed box. But, the tradeoffs are low frequency extension and efficiency. The larger sealed box (lower Qtc) will have a smoother frequency response, be more efficient (need less power), and have better low frequency extension.....at the loss of overall loudness.

Well, the bigger box wouldn't get as loud or be as "punchy", but would have better low frequency extention and be slightly more efficient. It's all about trade-offs //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif Right now you seem to be at a good "in between" point if you want decent SQL.

But remember, your car will have a huge impact on the frequency response as well............

I see, that makes a lot of sense. But one more question, would it be safe for the sub to run say 1500 watts to it?
