can n e ont tell me what fusses to use whith my distribution block and my fuse box for my main power line.....it's for a 1600 watt amp and a 640 watt amp?

i really don't want to use to big or to small of fusses.please help..

ur advice is gladly welcome and i thank all of u!!

i would say 120~150.

dont use any more than 150 amps on a 4awg wire, i would step up to 2awg for anything over 125 IMO... then 150 = 1\0awg... but thats being careful. i have a 120 amp fuse on my 1100w amp (but im only pushing it @ 2ohm\800w atm) with a 4 channel amp ~20amps for that maybe .... i guess im using ~100 amps for my whole setup..

i would use at least 120 fuse. maybe 130 or 140.

you can get packs of 5 that go from 100->150, just put a lower one in, if that blows, you know its

A. too small of a fuse

B. too small of a wire

=) - a quick way to guage the number of amps, is to add all the fuse ratings that your amp has built in, and get a rough estimate that way.

my amp has 2x40amp fuses. so i guess its max current is ~80 amps. +20amp fuse for my little amp= 100amps... im not even NEARLY taking 1100w@1ohm from it, so i think im safe to say im pulling alot less.

thats just a guesstimate tho. i cant find a 200amp ammeter //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/bawling.gif.6287aa5d1d447c8af063fc9466e822ef.gif

Fusing your system is way too important to get right to just have you guess or take advice from strangers. Do some reading on fuses, what they do for your system, and how to properly size them before taking on this task alone.

The fact that you mention your amps and their ratings suggests to me you are making the same mistake many people try to size fuses make. Those fuses are for the wire, not the amps. Size the wire according to current draw (dictated by your amps). Size the fuses according to wire size/length. To do it any other way is allowing for error and possibly a dangerous situation.

If you are unable/unwilling to fully investigate this topic and learn it before safely fusing your vehicle, then I highly suggest simply taking it to a professional to have him do it. The wrong fusing could lead to destroyed equipment, damaged or destroyed car, and possibly even to a horribly painful death. Take it seriously, make sure its 100% right.

Oh sure, play the voice or reason //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif Goody two shoes. Live on the edge or don't live at all //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/peace.gif.2db28b618ed8d1964ebbe2f5021d2c39.gif

But seriously, everything audioholic said was right. Fuse for the wire, not the amps. The wire used will be dependent upon the amps and their current draw. Do some research into the topic....it's not difficult and will aid you in all future audio endeavors (as to be sure that you won't screw up in the future)
