With roofing mat the smell will go away. Just leave the windows rolled down whenever you park the car.
The second skin material has a faint smell, but is not noticable once installed.

The ice and water shield isn't really like tar paper that you guys are thinking of and it doesn't smell that bad for very long after installed. I don't know how to explain it but it has kind of a rubbery feel to it.

absolutely uncalled for. first of all, he can put more than one sheet on. remember, more layers, more density, less vibration. does he need to put more layers on? probably not. it depends on how much something is vibrating. obviously if the roofing water shield works, he can use it. sure dynamat might not smell as much, but if it works, and you can stand the stench for a few weeks, who cares.

In the old day when Dynamat frist came onm the scene they said you only need a small piece for every square foot or so. TRUE. But if you really want to do a good job and lower the resonating frequency of the vibrating pannel use more than 1 small piece, use se a layer. Now they say doubling the lasyers will give 3 times the results. True. The more mass you add to anything the lower the resonating frequency will be lowered the more energy it will take to move (Vibrate)
Is water and Ice shield the stuff this has the adhesive on one side and a granulated surface on the other side? if so it will be very hard to do multiple layers.

Yes, it does have the granulated stuff on one side. How thick is your secondskind stuff? The stuff i bought is maybe 3mm, so im gonna try and do two layers of it. It was only $55 for 200 square feet.

I am not a saint, as some people on this forum (and many more on other forums) can contest to, nor am I a moderator here, but what I like about this forum is the low level of flames that occure. Even with out mods, this forum does relativly well compared to other forums. We are all here to learn, share and teach our knowlege and passion for mobile audio. If you want to get nasty with someone, take it to the flame forum. I would expect someone with 4 world records to act accordingly in a forum which he is a new member. I am not bashing your status as a newbie, just pointing out that we all deserve respect, whether we have 4 world records or 4 pyramid speakers running off of a road gear deck.

Second Skin Damplifier is 45 mils thick, DampX is 60 mils thick.
the price you got is a good one. It may be difficult applying 2 layers, but you got a good price.

I found a material I liked and started there. after I knew what I liked I did about 10,000 hours worth of research, and spent about 10,00 hours on the phone, email, us mail and in person talking with manufacturers and dealers of similar material. after searching around for so long I was able to figure out what worked and what did not. some mateials were better than others. I found a company that was willing to make a the mat to my specs. they changed thier house formula to accomidate my needs and charged me for it.
