Dodge Dakota Build Log

Ok so MY deadlines are running up short and I want to have a functional car/music.

So i need to piece the ***** together somewhat temporarily until I have time to pull her back out and make her pretty.

Starting to look ghetto but i wanna fire her up and see what i need to fix, if anything.

Haven t ran the sub in this box/ configuration yet some im curious as to what level im gonna hit:

Dont hate on me for the pics... IT wont look this ugly for to long

btw, 4/0awg terminal for grounding on seat bolt ftw!

I won't give you too much flack as long as you don't leave it that way.

Ha i wouldnt be able to stand it looking that way for too long =/

anyways took her for a test drive today.. I think i tuned a little low =/

Its killer on the low end but just doesn't seem loud enough to the ears..(maybe because i dont have my 6.5's in there just 2 small stock speakers running atm.)

But yeah it was kinda cool, I had a sort of choking/gagging feeling on a certain note during one of the songs.

vids in a min

Even though the system is far from complete... Im still not satisfied for some reason.

Hopefully getting the door pods done later on will put a smile back on my face but it just doesn't seem like enough. =/

I see myself doing a 2x 18" setup in the future.

oh crap and i didnt measure voltage drop for you fellas, ill do that later!

well i got my tint in today!

Too bad i ****ed it all up almost....

I used the old solution i had and i guess that didnt work for shit

i tried to apply the tint to the drivers door and argh it didnt budge into place at all I had to peel it off while it was still wet and

it rubbed on the door and touched my leg and all this bullshit. Finally managed to get it somewhat in to place and spent 10 min getting out wrinkles and fingers out... Its going to look like *** once i get it out in day light.

Then i did the very small rear sides.. well i guess i used the wrong side because there is one tiny nook that didnt get covered... very tiny but i noticed it and pissed me off even more...

So that leaves me with 3 big windows and 1 small window left... and 2 ****ed up ones.

So much frustration...

I think im going to have to take it all down later on with my handy razor blades and start all over taking the windows out of the door physically. I was going to this time but realized i raamatted over the door holes..

kicking myself in the ***... Well I guess i can try to do the other ones correct and if they comeout only reorder the ones i ****ed up..

summary:

messed up tint that was already the 2nd one ordered

kicking myself in ***

You get much dash flex? I used to have my radar detector in about the same spot but I couldn't get it to stay still even with a couple different methods.
i get a good amount but not too much. It will bounce around but i have a big 2"x2" piece of velcro holding it

im just amazed at how loud it can get inside while remaining somewhat quite on the outside...

Im not sure if its because im used to a trunk car or because of the raammatt

I was thinking of down sizing sub size possibly AQ because there very well priced.

Do you have any vids of your setup and the power your giving it?

The sd2.5's are an option or i might just go with 2xHDC15's

I love this sub to death but i wanna be able to wire to .5 ohms instead of 1ohm and while im switching out just go to different subs.

Its killing me not having a front stage or anything above 150hz atm, my door pods need to be redone but i have to much work to do. I need a better way to mount them. Was thinking of welding in some nuts to the door so the bolts will not hold on to a think slice of metal, they moved around to much for my liking. I should have held off on the deadener.

Im losing interest in such a big *** ugly setup in the back and nothing is bolted so i have to drive like an old lady.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

something needs to be done quick!!!

ill probably be pulling out the setup tonight/tomorrow to see what i can do.

I think it sounds good. Great job on everything too. Can nott wait to see it finished.

so i showed me friends and they were quite impressed.. the difference in volume inside and outside the car is tremendous, I had it full blast and my friend driving in front of me said he could barely feel me but my dash was jumping all over the place and i couldn't see in any mirrors.

This seems to be what many audiophiles want to accomplish .. spl inside not out, its just kinda weird, im used to being heard haha. I guess this means i need to get louder!!!

did some calculations

not very accurate but gimme something to work with.

using the driver size x usable throw x amount of drivers.

I realize the actually cone area varies alot but this is what i got anyway

4xSD2.5s = 1039in^3

2xHDC15s=1059in^3 with a considerable amount more of motor force(also a few $s cheaper)

I wish it was more accurate but im to lazy to do the work right now?

I better get my comps in before i go spending more $.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif
