Do you own a BTL?

Interesting that you did not like kick drum with the BTL's. . .I understand everyone has their likes and dislikes with different subs, but my BTL's are awesome for kickdrum. Like I said, maybe it is because my box is on the small side. It could also be that with 4 of them, I don't have to push them hard to get more than enough bass for above normal listening levels.

IMO, 1 kx2500.1 was more than enough for my btl 15 in 4.5 cubes @ 33hz. i dont see why you think you need another.
It is plenty of power to get it pounding but it just feels like it can take soo much more. The way it feels right now, I have the gain set for 2900wmrs, sub-sonic filter turned off, and it eats up everything I try and throw at it. Never has come even close to bottoming out or getting smelly. I would just like to be able to have the power on tap to push it to its limits when it deserves a good beating //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

i honestly think its your smaller box and higher tuning, as ive said before. cause at 4.5 cubes @ 33hz, upper end on my btl was minimal at best. if i run a btl in the future (which could very well happen) i will get the box down to 3.75 or so @ 35 to see if i can make it a little peakier up top in my explorer.

Drop your crossover frequency some. . . .
Its crossed at 60-70hz right now lol. I think I might bump it down a tid bit more but then Im going to need a mid that can dig that low. Right now my mids are crossed around 70-80hz. I could probably bump the sub down to around 55 and drop the mids down there with a little less power.

Like I said I havent even messed with anything yet. Thats why Im as impressed as I am. I havent tinkered with crossover adjustments, or tuning. Thats what this weekend is for //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif Oh and beauty panels //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Oh, I loved it on kick drums... it was good.

It was just that nasty upper bass in rap songs... like 60+hz... high bass like the main bass line in something like BiaBia. I don't like high bass much to begin with, that's why I'd either keep mine crossed at 63hz @24dB/oct or 50hz @12dB/oct.... and let my sealed 7's pick up the midbass and such...

Im sure it has a lot do to with the vehicle. Like I said, with mine crossed at 60-70 in my Cougar, the upper end is far too peaky.

This is how I would represent the response as of right now, with no adjusments at all.

30hz-35hz=Incredible, the loudest frequency I produce to the ear.

35hz-40hz= It seems to drop off a bit for me in this range, could pick this up better with changes in tuning. But loud none the less

40hz-60hz=Too much for me, this whole range just makes it feel like your head is splitting in half.

The upper range is a very rough estimate since I havent bothered listening to enough material in this range to accurately desribe the frequencies its reproducing....

Exact same effects I am seeing. I cant stand those high bass ranges, and this thing is peaky as hell in that area. I will tweak things this weekend and get things how I like them, but once I get my front stage running active I think I will have to cross it at 50hz and upgrade my mids to dig down looooowwww //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif :D //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

BTW nG what are you running for a front stage?

Ive got mine in right around 8 cube right now, tuned to 32

how would a btl run on only about 1400 rms? just until i get a bigger amp?
They are pretty **** efficient so I would say it would do alright, especially if you can accomodate a larger enclosure for it. It would be a waste to get one and run it off that little power for its whole life, but if you plan to upgrade power then sure why not....//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif
