Do you own a BTL?

dang you guys are all doing big boxes , I was going to do 7 or 7.5 cubes tuned to 35hz for a pair. Vitveet is in the designing process right now, think I should tell him to go bigger on size? its for a pair of 15"s
I would go a little bigger than that, whats the biggest you can fit?

//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif at a BTL being musical. Mine loosened up a LITTLE bit after a few weeks, but with all those spiders I don't see it being "loose" for quite some time.
For the first few days I was impressed with mine, after that I realized how shitty it sounded. Not very musical at all IMO. Killed on the lows, but that's about it. Kick drums sounded muddy and mushed together with no impact. Might as well had a midge with a wooden spoon beating on a shoe box.........
Well you must not have had it in a good enough setup to show its potential. I havent even messed with anything, other than dropping the sub in, and setting the gain and I am more than impressed. It has so much impact on kick drums, it kills all the lows, and is right there with every beat. I havent heard a song yet that it hasnt been right there with.

I was playing all sorts of Linkin Park, and Limp Bizkit today and I was getting more and more impressed with its musical ability. Im not saying its some end all SQ monster, its not built for that. Im simply stating that for an SPL oriented woofer its musical ability has far exceeded my expectations //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

BTW I have heard plenty of different setups to have something to compare to..... the last two setups I was running I believe were the RL-P's and my 15" Avalanche.

All about the box...i've got one in 10 cubes tuned in the 20's downstairs in the ht setup...
Nobody ever complains about having no impact or it being 'muddy'... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

They're actually shocked at how much it makes the floor and walls move lol.
Sorry, I didn't have room for a 10cf. box tuned in the 20's in my vehicle //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif The BTL was beyond a disappointment on any rock, metal, punk, etc. Anything with a kick drum........ and that's 80% of my music.

I'm guessing the biggest I could fit would be around 9 cubes so it wouldnt be a be issue to go bigger but it sounds like Brian did 3 cuft each tuned to 35hz which is what vitveet recomended to me so maybe he wasnt as far off as I thought.

As small as 6 ft^3, as big as 10 ft^3. Tuned to 32-35 Hz.

I like my smaller enclosure. Maybe that is why it sounds so good around 80-100 Hz. And still does not have any problem with hitting lows.

Let me get this right, just because I didn't like how the sub reproduced music, it's automatically my fault? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif I had a good box, solid install, plenty of power, etc.

When I first got it I thought it sounded good for a SPL sub too, but you still have to realize it is a SPL sub. And to my ears it sounded horrible on the music I listen to. If you're happy with it, more power to you. I just listed my experience with the btl (which is not an automatic install fault, just personal preference).

I wouldn't say they have great SQ at all...

But a good daily street beater yes, and easily musical. They are a bit peaky in the upper bass regions for me... but tear your head off on the lows //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif.

I liked mine for daily beating. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

I wasnt trying to take away from your install with the woofer at all, simply disagreeing with the fact that it cant dig into the upper end. I guess your right though, everyone has an opinion and Im happy with how it sounds.

x2, I am not trying to say that it is an SQ woofer at all, far far from it. But it does its job very well for me, strictly daily steet beating on music, while getting considerably loud. I dont like the peaky response in the upper areas at all, like I said before I wish it didnt hit that region like it does. Most material I play with any bass line up top I just skip right through because I cant take it.

Overall thats the only thing I would change about the woofer for the use I have for it.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/veryhappy.gif.fec4fed33b4a1279cf10bdd45a039dae.gif
