Do you feel safer with a gun, or without?

x2, dogs FTW:)
Aye! Now the reaction I always get from my step-dad BIG gun supporter is that an intruder could shoot the dog...they could...most likely take one of them down in a shot. They won't get all 3 and if they do, i would have been most likely dead from the first bullet anyways. If they miss even one, god help em //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

i feel better with a gun period.... i carry a mosberg 500-a in tha van and in tha house i have a mak-90 with a 75 round coil clip and have a sks with folding stock. i feel real safe //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

I mean... let me completly exaggerate to show the point.
Why don't people keep radioactive material in their house to throw on intruders. Because the risk of harm to the occupants far outways that of preventing the intruder from hurting you.

It is such a simple thing.

You are not likely to get injured/killed by a robber.

You are more likely to get injured by a gun if you have one in the home. This risk is FAR greater then the robber risk.

Again, I hear what you are saying. I am not sure you hear me:

WhosayWho? > than other people

Steps back slowly and walks away. LOL. Kinda a bit much don't ya think? Grandma is going to go over for a visit and your going to hit her with 40-50 rounds before you realize whats going on LOL:eek:

Yea I totally hear that man. And as I said in the first post would love to see how training effects the risk. But hey...I don't really expect anyone to say they are not greater then other people..lol.

Its just about risk management. Why have a gun to protect yourself against a small risk, to just increase your risk of injury?

Even if you are better the the rest, why trade small risk for big risk. Like the guy said..of course having a gun in the home no matter who you are...makes it more likely you get hurt by one.

Man...expecting a war anytime soon..lol. Hell if I can't hit what I need to on a couple shots...or there are too many to stop in a couple shots...you have far more serious problems. lol.

Of course you can. Families without guns at home...have just the same problems. But FAR less death and serious injuries. Why?
Guns escalate arguments to a different level. Maybe before you would have just punched each other out...or even stabbed each other...unfortunately with a gun...the risk of serious injury is greater.
are you serious???? if someone lacks the ability to control themselves when angry and pulls a gun, well, they deserve anything that happens to them. i pitty the person that doesnt have any sort of impulse control like that.

Kinda...its just the RISK of getting hurt by your own gun is greater then getting hurt by someone else's gun.
But yes, in violent confrontations in home's as well, you are 2.7 times more likely to get hurt by a gun then hurt the intruder.

And remember... this very true saying...

Every time someone from Canada emigrates to the US, it raises the IQ in both countries //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif
im starting to think your throwing out random numbers that i truly dont give a shit about.

matter of fact i know you are.

My whole point is that the risk that the gun will lead to an injury to a family member or some other innocent person is reduced because I am not an idiot.

I have no doubt that many, even most, people would be safer without a gun in their homes. That does not mean that the risk of an unintended discharge of the weapon is greater than the risk of an in intruder in MY home.

for once...i totally agree. if someone is willing to hurt their family members, deserves to be shot.

I only agree with this statement because of what I have already previously said, that the majority of gun owners in America are uneducated on how to properly use their weapon and are irrespondible in storing the weapon. Not to mention they have recieved little to no training and dont fire it as often as they should.

Because that small risk could rob you of everything you own, **** your kids and kill your parents. And again, your numbers about in home accidents are from the dumbest gun owners in America. Why not take an accurate sample? But ya know what, you can modify the results of any study to prove what you want. I could get a grant to prove that people who drink milk are more likely to become serial killers simply because most, if not all serial killers drink milk...

And I will you guys something else. Under typical conditions the rule of law prevails for the most part and the "bad guys" are kept in check.

But if and when our society breaks down you had better be prepared to protect yourself -- and that means having at least one gun and plenty of ammo.

I know that sounds crazy, but you can get to that point quicker than you think.

Don't believe me, it was pretty **** close to that point after Katrina. Do not think for a second that when the shit hits the fan you will just be able to pick up the phone and have the police rush to your aid.

stupid people get shot by guns....be it the user getting shot, or him doing the world a favor.
