Do you feel safer with a gun, or without?

I have another thread that discusses this alot, But that was not what that thread was about.

So CanadianDream, here is a thread just for you.

Would you feel safer with a gun in the house, or without?

I personally would feel safer knowing that I am prepared for an intruder to come in. I will shoot to kill and not hesitate. What if you dont have a gun and the intruder does? Youre SOL?

I mean, according to CanadiaDream, statistics show that it is not safer to have a gun in the house or in your vehicle.

Discuss..

i would feel safer with one. but i'm not of age just yet, so i guess i'll have to wait.

i usually always carry a knife with me anywhere i go though, unless it's a courthouse or something like that.

I dont take lightly to someone coming into my home without permission. Esp in the middle of the night lol. Therefore I am not afraid to shoot somone if I have to

Honestly this is a huge debate with my step-dad and I. He is a gun advocate and teachs concealed carry here in Ohio. He carries one all the time. I don't believe in it. A loaded gun is just not safe. If you feel unsafe at home, move. Or buy a BIG dog. I have 3 //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

I do agree with you on that. I have always been taught if your shooting at someone, shoot to kill.

Without the concealed weapons training, nor my self defense courses and competition, I wouldnt feel as safe as just buying the weapon. The idea that a person might be carrying a gun is deterrent enough for most criminals but every month in the NRA magazine, I still see criminals dumb enough to call the bluff.

Usually when im alone at home and my parents are gonna be gone for a while. My dad leaves me his fully loaded black chrome 10mm. With that kind of trust that my dad gives me, i don't goof around with it. But it does make me feel safer with one, even though i have 2 dogs in the backyard.

Ah man...a thread just for me...thanks. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

My point in the other thread is not about "feeling" but what the real risk is. I totally agree, use to have a guns in my house. Felt safer, would still feel safer. The bottom line is that I know me and the family are MUCH safer without. Just the truth of what has happened to gun owners in the last couple decades.

And don't get me wrong...I am not anti-gun or for more gun control. Still own the gun, just keep them at the range now. If you like guns...want guns...whatever..all the power to you, was just arguing against it for making your house safer.

For alot of people moving is just not an option. I mean, why should someone have to move because someone else wants to steal something.

You live there, not the person who wants to steal something. Therefore it is youre domain or whatever you would like to call it. I just do not believe in moving because of something like that.

But there is always an acception to it tho. If the crime rate was so high in that area that you are getting broken into left and right, that would be different in my oppinion. But other than that, I would definately not move.

I was always taught to stand my ground. And that is what I will do until forced to leave

You missed a few words in there...//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

Definitely safer with man... I don't have my own gun yet, but my dad has more than a few and my uncle is a collector. I have grown up around guns and I believe everyone should be taught to use them properly and safely for their defense. I plan to get one pretty soon here but it is pointless until I move out of the dorms, can't have one in here lol... Big dogs are a good deterrent too though... I used to have 2 st. bernards... nobody ever came in our yard lol..
