Do Waterbox's exist for subs?

I had this idea years back to build some kind of waterbox(box partially filled with a water center). You how speakers sound, let alone how sound can easily carry underwater. I was thinking a box like this would create much deeper bass than regular ones today. Although it could make it sounds worse, but I would like to see someone attempt it.

Id like to see someone put some sub boxes underwater in a swimming pool and crank them waaay up...keeping out water would be a problem. It would look sweet to see all those crazy ripples in the water from the bass, even better to jump in and get a underwater type massage.

Water is a more dense medium...therefore the speed of sound is greater, making the box appear smaller. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Just build a clear bandpass box with the sub facing upwards and face of the cone facing into a sealed chamber, fill this chamber somewhat with liquid and WANG. That would look cool.

Yea since h20 molecules are closer together than air the sound travels faster making the box seem smaller. Your idea would only work if like one person suggested you put the sub in a plexi glass box with air in the box but water on the cone. The sub may be dampened by the water pressure which may result in a need for more wattage but unless your sub was designed for this you would probably burn the voice coils. I also thought it would be freakin awsome if you had speakers in a pool. Ive heard rumors about bill gates having this but im not making any claims so this may not be true.

I have only heard of transducers being used in depth finders and other infrasonic sound application. Do they really make transducers that can produce music?

Just thought I would add something to this conversation. I have been in a few pools before that had underwater sound systems. I am not sure exactly how they set them up, but the sound quality isn't even close to as good as normal speakers. It just didn't sound even close to as sharp as normal sound waves traveling through air. It was pretty cool though:naughty:
