do subs hit louder on hiphop?

Rap is defined poetry to a beat- This has changed slightly when given into a more musical sense. The best example of rap at is purest right now is Immortal Technique. You will find it is mostly political and strongly correlates with suburban violence/gangs/****/hate crimes.

HipHop is fairly broad. It is generally related to Dance music (Yeah from Usher is a perfect example) or remakes (Lonley by I dont remember). Hip Hop is actually an older term that has diversified into categories such as crunk (Lil john, Lil Scrappy), Dancehall (Elephant Man, Usher, Sean Paul), and gangsta (50-cent, Snoop Dogg).

Overall, Rap/HipHop is very diverse with many different sub-cultures. This issue arrises because it is a rapidly changeing industry that followes monthly trends and is constantly changeing. It also doesnt help that almost all successful artist have their fingers in at least 3 different subs of the given categories.

Hopefully, given the above definition, you can understand why the people who do not listen to Rap/Hip Hop have a hard time categorizing the music.

yeah most of the time rap is recorded with a so called "bass boost". THat is why i say there is no SQ in rap. Cus the low end will always over power the front stage.
SQ is opinionated so your definition of "overpowering" may be someone elses definition of perfection. I personally cannot listen to Heavy metal without a sub because the lack of bass slices through my ears when turned up high.

Never heard a decent system before have you?
x2

x2 with that also. Metal is just not complete w/o a sub.

R-A-P!!! Rap!
well it DOES take talent to mix and fade the instruments/samples from other music and create a beat to accompany the melody ANT, 9th Wonder, Abilites, Brock? lol all good producers with talent, you just like stated in another thread, haveta weed through all the crap.
Yeah, it takes a lot of talent to steal...ERRRR sample actual talented musicians, and add the loud boom and thug poetry. Not a big fan, but it does hit hard.
