Cabin gain, what exactly is it?

the smaller amount of air within the cabin of the vehicle allows the sound to be louder. thus why when listening to subs in best buy, they aren't loud.

Okay, thanks. I read something on here that with a smaller space, the sound waves have less room to develop. I guess it's not true then.

that is true

sound waves are loudest at 1/4 and 3/4...i think thats where they peak at, i could be wrong im no expert, but im pretty sure that is correct

For example cabin gain hurts me since i dont feel like spending a grand on a system. I had a 15 in my expedition and it was loud, but nothing spectacular. Sold it too a friend who put in in a jeep grand cherokee, and he has one of the loudest systems in town...
