DO NOT go to CIA Engineering for amp repair

ghey. had my amp longer than 3 months and still charged me. hell he threatened to charge me something like 125 an hour for the "engineering time" to do a CAD design for a plexiglass cover on my crossfire.

i should have posted about it at the time.

Just had a couple amps sent over the audiotekx. One with a blown cap, and one that apparently didn't even need to go to begin with. Pricing was better than anywhere I looked, and the turn around time was a couple days. Not to mention, killer communication. Jason is the man, would highly recommend them for anyone needing repairs. At least, they did me right. Didn't charge me to test and clean up the one that was sent to them thinking it was busted (wasn't mine, apparently just stuck in protect for a while).

I was hesitant after reading these horror stories - but wouldn't hesitate to use audiotekx again.

If anyone does not mind shipping to Canada, i know a shop here near toronto that does good work. I had my amp repaired in a week-end, and its been working ever since.(almost a month). no charge to see whats wrong, and it cost me a whole $100cdn to fix, plus a 3 month warrenty to boot. I am going to see them about using my shipping company to ship everything, so rates will be excellent within Canada, and the States. I am going to discuss how to avoid duties for USA customers(i am a sales rep, and know my way around things).

anyone in need shoot me a pm.

This thread should be forwarded to the company. If that happened, and amps were received with a helping hand to death, contact some institutions. BBB LOVES companies like this. I mean, I am in the service industry, at the lowest ****ing spectrum, but still, respect needs to be given. To reply with swears and accusations and threats is ridiculous. And then to return stuff not working, or charge extra? **** that. Since this is a thread about amp repair, where could I get a Soundstream Reference500 and a Phoenix Gold X1200.1 repaired RELIABLY?

Not to hijack, just wondering.

i sent in an autotek mm4000 that was under warrenty a little over 6 weeks ago. I called once and just recently emailed him. I'm being told he is still waiting for parts from the manufacturer //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif I dont understand why it would take this long to get parts if he is the certified repair facility. but, i guess i have no choice but to be patient //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

It took me 6 months to buy and install my audio sysytem and the amp dies after 20 minutes of play and now another 6 weeks of waiting //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

on a side note. i have a pb xa3000 sitting dead in my garage, i took it apart and found a bad mosfet. i just ordered a new one and will attempt to repair my amp myself. atleast i would have something to use till the autotek comes back.

i sent my amp to them for repair back in December... it was an american bass sq800...

took them exactly 4 weeks for me to get it back.. charged me 75.00....

had no problems... other then i would hvae had it in 3 weeks if there wouldent have been a huge snow storm.....

but i had nooo problems...

he said it was cut with an automated laser machine that you had to have a cad file for.
If it was a logo, that's probably true. If it was just to cut the plexi, pop holes in it, etc.. that's highly untrue. CNC machining centers can receive their data input directly from a CAD file (called CAD/CAM), but generally speaking they do not HAVE to. Unless its some intricate design, like a logo that can't be entered mathemactically, they wouldn't bother setting it up for CAD/CAM... that would just be stupid.
Furthermore, if his equipment requires he do this, then that's a standard operation cost and should be included in any price he quotes people ahead of time. That entire line he fed you wreaks of "I'll fill him with techno-babble to make him think Im cutting him a break".

Ive worked in, around, and with many CAD systems since the early nineties, in case you are wondering about my qualifications for making these statements.

2 and a half months now and still no amp. Says he is still waiting on proprietary parts from the manufacturer //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

Wow, I forgot this thread was still open. Anyways, they had my amp for about 6-7 months and it did not get repaired. I then sent it to Audiotekx and they couldn't do it either so I did some more research on the boards. I eventually came into contact with Chris, owner of DB-r, and I must say my experience with him was top notch. What CIA and Audiotekx couldn't or wouldn't do, Chris did and that proves his competence. Nothing pleased me more than to hear that my amp can be repaired after two of the most well known facilities couldn't. Also, Chris kept exceptional communication. I would usually hear back from him within a few hours and I also got details of his progress. With CIA, I had to initiate the first email to see what was going on. Chris took the liberty to take the initiative and let me know, without me ever having to ask. These few things, as small as they may be, say a lot about a person and a business.

Joe at CIA makes so many childish excuses. I can't believe he runs a business and hands em out like candy. For instance, on May 24th, after months and months of failure, I requested my amp to be sent to Chris instead of me. Finally, on June 29th, over a month later, I get this response:

"Sorry for the delay getting back to you but I've been out for almost two weeks due to a little medical emergncy."

Great excuse, sounds like a few too many sick days eh? Then, sometime in mid July, Chris finally receives it. Great service CIA, great service.
