Do I run Fuse Holders After Dis. Block?

im aquiring 2 amps one for subs and one for components.

the sub amp calls for 4 guage wire and 80amp fuse

the component calls for 8 gauge wire and 60 amp fuse.

i plan on using knuconceptz wiring as i have heard good things around this forum.

is it cool to keep the dis. block under the hood?

heres the dis. block i was going to use. Stinger PRO 1/0 Ga 3-Way Gold Distrobution Block

i plan on running 3 ft 0/1 gauge wire off the battery into the distribution block. then 4 gauge out of dis. block into 80amp fuse holder then into sub amp.

on the other side of dis. block 8 gauge out into 60amp fuse holder into component amp.

is this correct that the fuse holders are after the dis. blocks before going into the amps, or do i need to use fuse protection before even going into the dis. block?

i want to keep the fuse holders as close to the battery as possible to keep from melting the plastic off the wire if it happens.

is 3ft of 0/1 battery terminal wire enough, can i use less?

im going to ground both amps w/ 4 gauge to the same spot, or should i ground them in the same area to two different bolts?

thanks guys. need to get these ? answered so i can get my amp wires tonight

I would but an inline fuse with a 150amp fuse no more than 12" from the battery and then have your 1 into 2 fuse block close to your amps, so you only have to run 1 fat power wire through the firewall, instead of a 4 guage and an 8 guage. And for gods sake, use grommets in the firewall. Ground both amps at the same spot, use the 4 guage for that amp, and I'd use the 8 guage for that amp, it just needs to match, 8 in, 8out.

Run an inline fuse ~12" from the battery on the 1/0 wire, then run a FUSED distribution block in the trunk, one 4 gauge wire to each amp. You can ground the amps at the same spot assuming its a good spot to ground at (solid, thick metal, clean).

Much easier than running all kinds of fuse holders.

The knukonceptz wiring kit comes with a fuse/fuse holder for under the hood, then pic up something like this: http://www.darvex.com/miva/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=SFPD2ANLPT&Product_Count=1 for in the trunk. Run the power wire ALL THE WAY to the trunk, then put the FUSED distribution block in the trunk off that power wire.

The wiring would look like this:

battery-->~12" of wire-->fuse holder-->wire to the trunk-->fused distribution block-->two separate power wires to each amp.

Exactly what I said. Right on Bro.

good works. i was wondering where to find a dis. block with 0/1 in and 4gauge out with fuses. i could have figured it the whole time if i had seen that fuse block. forwerd on. waiting on the mailman, ups guy, and the fed ex dood is killing me. waiting for stereo, components, amps, wiring kit. soon to be waiting on some subs.
