remember that the length of the cable and the power runing trught that cable is what deternines the gauge. and anything bigger is just a waste of money and anything smaller could be a fire hazard.
unless you are compeatind...in which case the less voltage drop your wire causes the more voltage your speaker will see...When you are chasing tenth's on the mic that is important. Otherwise the BCAE1.com calculator will tell you all you need to know.

Also, the lower the impeadance the thicker the wire is needed for equal power output.

youre rigth, but i dont think hes worried about a 10th of a db, hes worried that he may be using a too small of a speaker wire.
