I just read the wiring section and it said I need 8 gauge speaker wire.HOLY CRAP!!!!I went out to my truck and looked and the wires I have running to the speakers right now is 16 awg:eek: .the system pounds right now but should I change it anyway. Is it going to mess anything up if i dont? Will it make it sound better?Am I an idiot for using wire this small to begin with?YES I AM,but it was late when I got it done and 16 was all I had laying around.(I was only gonna switch it to 14 anyway but if i need 8 then I will)

Uh, no. You do not run 8 awg to the speakers. You use that for power and ground on the amps. From your crossovers to your speakers (assuming you're using passive crossovers with components), 16 is fine.

thats the one i was looking at and i looked again but maybe i am not reading it right.I am running 3000 watts going to 15" subs @1ohm.What do i need?

i used 8 ga for my 15xxx dosnt mean i needed it though. most likely youll be fine with 16 for your front stage and 12 for subs. i doubt youll be pushing enough wattage to burn up the insulation on your wire. but then again bigger wire cant hurt (except the pocket book)

what kind of subs/amp are you running?

i would only run 4 gauge speaker cable to the sub if im installing the sub inverted and the sub conectors allow for a 4 gauge cable, and thats just for looks.

on my subs i never use anything smaller then 12gauge. , if youre using 16gauge and you touch the cable after runing your system for a while at high volume and is feels hot. then i sugest going one gauge bigger.

remember that the length of the cable and the power runing trught that cable is what deternines the gauge. and anything bigger is just a waste of money and anything smaller could be a fire hazard.

now thats a great link http://www.bcae1.com/images/swfs/speakerwireselectorassistant.swf
