Hey guys first post long time reader.. I have a 2007 Forester and im looking @ putting a box in the back for some bass.. 2 x LCS-12's 4ohms 300rms from Sundown.. with a 1200-2000watt amp 1ohm stable.. still not sure yet didn't want to spend 400bucks on an amp

This started out with a quest for some bass and the costs just keep mounting.. now im concerned that my system won't be able to take it..the alt is a 12v 90amp -- Im going to do the "Big 3" upgrade but i worry the alt will need to be upgraded first.. Can you guys hit me with some of your guru knowledge please..

Looking forward to hearing from you.

My Chevy s10 had a 90 amp alternator and had a tough time at even 1000 rms.. You’re probably going to get some voltage drops. I never did upgrade my alternator and just went with a second battery, but I could never keep it at the 14 volts the alternator put out for very long. I always ended up sitting around 12.6 most of the time.

No need to spend $400 on an amp

If you do the big 3 you should get away with not replacing the alt but I would upgrade the battery to an AGM
You going to run into the same problem I did
Group 35 batteries are a pain to find, be thankful your not in Canada where they won't ship batteries across the border
Northstar/Odyssey makes one

For the record I was running 1700 watts off a 110 amp alt and an agm in one of my cars

I don't think most folks understand VAT tax.

Buy yourself a cheap voltage display so you can keep an eye on things as you play music. If your voltage is dipping too low under normal use add an additional AGM battery (well secured) back by the amp(s). 1000W should be safe with just about any functional factory electrical system, up to about 2000 just adding another battery should suffice in 19 out of 20 cases.

No not needed. The difference in gain on the amplifier would not draw more power from the battery. Still yet efficient. The gain in volts is a...
