Technically, any wire coming off a power source SHOULD be fused.
Wire from batt to amp needs a fuse BY THE BATTERY using a short enough piece of wire before the fuse holder that can't touch anything metal. You get why now??
Wires between batteries need fuses at both ends using the same short wire to fuse theory.
Any piece of unfused(or improperly fused) wire that can touch metal can cause a fire.
And BTW, that wire might just weld itself to the metal and not be removable upon contact, plus it will get very hot, very quickly.
