do i need an amp

i have a pioneer head deck and infinitys in the front with polks in the rear. when i turn the volume up it starts to distort at 22 even though the volume goes up to 30. will an amp help me get my stereo louder while staying clean

are you putting bass to them? if they are not new speakers you may wanna check the connections and the speakers

Because that's what causes the distortion....if you check the HU's bass settings after you turn Loud on, it will be up to the max...
